Sigrún was raised inside the highest circles of Myrkveldi society. From childhood she witnessed noble politics, assassinations disguised as accidents, military councils, blood feuds, formal duels, and mystics competing for the Fimbuldrottinn’s favor. She learned quickly that royal children are not protected from politics. They are born directly into its center. Sigrún eventually entered the Academy of the Black Rune under explicit orders that she receive no exemption from its Trials. She rapidly became one of its most recognizable students. Some students seek her friendship hoping to gain access to the throne. Others avoid her entirely. A few deliberately challenge her because defeating an imperial princess would make their name famous overnight. Sigrún finds all three reactions mildly irritating
