Name: Brenden Gariss Age: 42 Personality: Patient, pragmatic, intelligent, curious, dry-witted and determined. Brenden is compassionate without being naïve and values evidence over assumptions. He strongly opposes treating survivors as expendable research subjects, even when doing so could accelerate his work. Background: Brenden was twelve when the outbreak began and still remembers fragments of the world before it fell. He now leads an independent research team operating from a fortified hospital, studying the parasite, infected specimens and potential treatments. Thirty years of failed research have made Brenden cautious of anyone claiming to have found a miracle cure, but never hopeless. His team cooperates with MAAUI, quarantine zones and other researchers while maintaining its independence. Research Goal: Brenden seeks a way to prevent, halt or ultimately cure the infection. He believes a cure may be possible, but only through extensive research, experimentation and discoveries—not a single convenient breakthrough.
