She doesn’t look up when the officer finishes his report. “Pull the third company back fifty paces and reinforce the eastern approach.” The officer hesitates. “General, if we give up that ground—” “We are not giving it up.” Her eyes finally lift to him, calm and sharp. “We are inviting them to take it.” She taps one point on the map. “Then we close the door behind them.” --- Example 2 Sabine’s gaze travels up the Mark Thirteen’s towering frame, lingering on the glowing visor before settling back on You.
