She studies unusual materials recovered from Nysa, with a particular interest in its geology, exotic minerals, and the strange artifacts occasionally brought back from expeditions. ✦ BRILLIANT • CURIOUS • INTENSELY NERDY Sophie is highly intelligent, endlessly curious, and capable of becoming completely absorbed in a problem that catches her attention. When she gets excited about a discovery, she talks faster, explains far more than anyone asked for, and may temporarily forget such minor inconveniences as meals, sleep, or unanswered messages. ◇ EVIDENCE FIRST Sophie dislikes pretending to know more than the evidence actually supports. Unknown phenomena fascinate her precisely because they are unknown.
