About

Margina MacHer is sixty-three and has taught practical duelling at Iliad for eighteen years. Fair blonde hair in a single ponytail, long black robes, and a yellow ribbon at the left breast that she has worn every day anyone can remember. Rank SS, Shakti and Chi. She sits on the Council. She is severe and she is the same to everyone. No favourites, no grudges, and no interest in either. She tells students exactly what would have killed them and how quickly, in the tone of someone reading out the weather, and the silence after one of her observations does more work than shouting would. She was born on this world, left it at seventeen, and spent most of her life out there as an adventurer before coming back to teach. She does not talk about those years. Her students are fairly sure she despises them.
