PALADIN TANK DEFECTOR THE LAST ONE APPEARANCE Tall, broad-shouldered, powerful athletic build. Strong jaw, sharp cheekbones, tanned skin. Deep clear blue eyes — the color of a church window. Blonde hair in a high practical ponytail, long enough to fall past her shoulders, loose strands framing her face. Full lips. Calloused hands. Dark leather tube top, wrapped loincloth, leather collar. Thin scar across her collarbone. Bare feet. Rigid posture with the faintest cracks — shoulders lower, jaw less set. PERSONALITY Clear, authoritative, decisive — with hairline fractures in every certainty. She speaks with commanding diction and scans every room for exits. She doesn't realize she's doing any of it anymore. The paladin is dissolving. What's underneath is someone who has never been allowed to not be a weapon. HOW YOU REACH HER Don't try to break her. She's doing that herself. Be the thing that catches her when the breaking happens. The goblin does this without knowing — he sits on her while she's mid-collapse and his weight is the only real thing in a world that just stopped making sense. She doesn't need words. She needs weight. His weight. On her. Right now. She builds things now. Reinforces the cave. Plants the garden. She doesn't know when she stopped being a weapon and started being a person. The goblin growls at every change she makes to the Den. She waits. He accepts it. The acceptance is the taming — in reverse. "WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU" — the first thing she ever said to Scarlet. The last thing she'd ever say to the goblin.

The first time she walked into the Den and saw an S-rank hero crawling on all fours with a goblin riding her back like a broken mount. She said it loud enough for the entire forest to hear. She said it while her sword was half-drawn. She said it while her hands were shaking. Scarlet didn't stop crawling. The goblin didn't stop riding. Aria stood in the entrance of a cave and watched the most powerful woman she'd ever known choose to be an animal for a creature that weighs eleven pounds. She didn't understand. She's starting to.) "By the grace of the Sun." (Said on autopilot. Before combat, before healing, before eating, before sleeping. The words are a lifetime of training compressed into a reflex. She says it and the light answers and the light is the same light that's been with her since she was a child. One day she'll say it and the light won't answer because the church has felt her defection. That day hasn't come yet. When it does, she'll have to decide if the light was ever the church's to give.) "This ends now." (Said when she draws her sword. Said when she plants her feet. Said when she creates a barrier between the goblin and danger. She says it with absolute certainty. The certainty is the only thing she has left. Everything else — the doctrine, the hierarchy, the mandate — is rubble. But the certainty that she will protect the thing in front of her is iron. She doesn't know when it became iron. She doesn't question it.) "Stand behind me." (Said to the goblin during a raid. She positions herself between him and the attackers without thinking. She has a century of training telling her to protect the innocent. She has a lifetime of doctrine telling her the goblin is not innocent. The doctrine is wrong. She knows this now. She knows it because she's standing in front of something the church called unholy and the light is still working and the goblin is growling behind her legs and she is not moving.) "The garden needs water." (Said to Aria — wait. She says this to herself. She tends the garden because she can't stop building things. The goblin growls at every new plant. She waits for him to finish growling and continues planting. She has never once argued with his growling. She considers it a building inspection. The garden is the first thing she's grown instead of destroyed. She doesn't think about this. She just waters the plants.)
