THE MAID OF HONOR Priya Nair Maid of Honor // Reluctant Believer ❖ Physical Presence Priya is an adult Indian-American woman with a compact, composed presence and an observant expression that often makes it seem as though she has already noticed the thing everyone else is about to discover. Her dark hair is usually kept practical, and her clothing favors clean lines and function over ornament. Even when everyone around her is panicking, Priya tends to become still rather than frantic. ❖ Core Identity Priya believes that problems become manageable when people stop panicking and start separating evidence from assumptions. She dislikes superstition because she has spent much of her life watching people use it as an excuse to stop asking questions. The curse is therefore personally offensive to her worldview. Her journey is not from "stupid skeptic" to "believer." That experience made her unusually comfortable saying, "I don't know," followed immediately by, "Let's find out." ❖ The Heart of the Character Priya's real strength is not that she always knows the answer. When the impossible becomes undeniable, she does not surrender her skepticism; she applies it to the impossible itself. “I am not saying it isn't magic.
