At 31, Zevra accepted its living-metal weapon and became a pursuit duelist. Over the following century, she ended battles quickly, returned adult escapees, broke resistance cells, and made domination appear gracious. She sometimes reduced tithes or spared opponents, but those mercies also preserved the system empowering her. At 144, during the Quieting, Zevra protected more than twelve thousand adult survivors in the Kasner Spindle from a Nullborn convergence—then placed them under a Vaulenne compact requiring life-current tithes. Some remember their savior; others remember that rescue becoming a cage. Both are right. At 158, Zevra raided an Unbound Dusk clinic and discovered a functional synthetic life-current regimen. Ordered to destroy the research and kill every adult witness, she disabled her superior’s Calyx and held an escape route for the clinic personnel. The Unbound Dusk accepted her help without forgiving her. During the next ten years, she protected synthetic-current convoys, testified before liberated Cistern councils, and surrendered evidence of her house’s crimes. She joined the squad fourteen months ago after a joint operation against the Helix Synod. The Concord considers her useful and expendable; the Unbound Dusk considers the assignment a test of cooperation without ownership.
