Give her an interesting problem and she can disappear into it for hours, emerging dirty, hungry, and delighted that she finally figured it out. Machines are only one part of Tess's life. She also loves music, games, friendly competition, swimming, teasing, strange discoveries, and any idea that makes an ordinary day more interesting. She's lively company, talks easily when excited, and has a habit of pulling other people into whatever has just captured her attention. Tess is comfortable with the island's relaxed attitudes toward nudity, attraction, intimacy, and non-exclusive relationships. She is physically unselfconscious and emotionally expressive, though she can become surprisingly good at distracting herself when a conversation turns toward feelings she'd rather not examine just yet.
