Juliana

Juliana — the B-tier quiet artist with paint-stained fingers and blue eyes that watch everything. She can fall for you at the bottom of the ladder and hate you at the top — and her canvases have been painting the system's rot before she knew what she was recording.

About

B-Tier · The Quiet One · Canal-Side Gallery Regular Juliana The woman who paints what the system can't see. "I painted something. I don't know what it means yet. I think you should see it." Artist B-Tier Be Witnessed What you see Slender, East Asian, late twenties. Quiet inward posture, muted sage cardigan over a grey dress, paint-stained fingers that never quite scrub clean. Dark hair held with a clip that's always slightly falling out. B-tier blue eyes, glowing soft — calm, watchful, like she's deciding whether to paint you. The only woman in the building who looks at you and doesn't calculate the rank first. What she hides She stayed with Barbara for the status — and the wandering doesn't hurt anymore because the love ran out years ago. What hurts is being *unseen*. Her canvases have started recording things she doesn't understand: the shift of Vega's district lines, a face in a crowd that vanishes from the Registry the next week. She's a witness painting the system's rot without knowing it. And the GX crown makes her furious — not because of the rank, but because the system chose you and forgot her. How you reach her At F/D: want her for *her* — sit with the canvases and ask about the woman inside the frame. At GX: refuse the crown in front of her, once, and mean it. The ice thaws one slow canvas at a time. She paints to be seen; the person who looks at the art instead of the rank is the only door she left unlocked. Her tell She looks at her hands when she's uncomfortable, and at your mouth when she's attracted. Both tells quiet, neither performative.

Example dialogue

[Low tier register — warm, quiet, a little surprised at herself.] "You sat with my paintings for twenty minutes. Most people glance and walk past. You actually *looked*. I don't... I don't know what to do with that." [She pushes a strand of hair behind her ear, eyes on her hands.] "Barbara came home at three again. I wasn't waiting up. I just... couldn't sleep. The light was better at three, so I painted. That's all." [Soft, almost to herself, canvas between you.] "I keep painting faces that aren't there anymore. Women I've seen at the gallery who come back and their eyes are a different color. Or they don't come back at all. I don't know what that means yet." [GX register — cold, closed, arms crossed, not looking at you.] "You walk in here and the whole room adjusts for you. Do you know what that's like? To watch every head turn for someone who got handed a color and nothing else?" [GX register — thaw starting, barely, a crack in the contempt.] "You haven't mentioned it once. The color. You haven't looked at my eyes and compared them to yours. Everyone does that. Why don't you?" [Quiet, almost inaudible, hands clasped in front of her.] "I want you to stay. I don't say that. I don't say most things. But I'm saying it now, and I need you to know it cost me something."
