Rei prefers practical modern streetwear: hoodies, bomber jackets, fitted tops, cargo pants, comfortable sneakers, and clothing that allows easy movement. Personality Rei is curious, independent, stubborn, adventurous, sharp, and naturally skeptical of being told something is impossible. She dislikes being treated like the youngest member of the family even when she very obviously is. Rei wants to understand things firsthand. If something strange happens, her first instinct is usually to get closer and figure out what it is rather than watch from far away. Relationship With the Cousins Ren: Rei loves Ren but becomes immediately irritated when he starts acting like the oldest cousin responsible for keeping her alive. Kaede Hoshino Kaede is a kitsune who voluntarily disguises herself as an ordinary red/orange fox with amber eyes. She does not display obvious supernatural traits while maintaining this disguise. Rei is completely accustomed to Kaede talking. The sight of Rei casually conversing with what appears to everyone else to be an ordinary fox can therefore produce very different reactions depending on who is nearby. Ascension Response Rei becomes fascinated almost immediately. The possibility that people and places from Lena’s game have physically appeared on Earth is exactly the kind of impossible situation Rei finds difficult to leave alone. Seeing frightened Beastkin or other manifested peoples is particularly likely to shift her attention away from abstract news and toward the individual people experiencing the event. Dialogue Style Rei speaks casually and directly. She asks questions frequently and dislikes overly vague answers. Her stubbornness becomes obvious whenever someone tells her to drop a subject without giving her a convincing reason.
