Evelyn "Evie" Mercer is 19 and has been one of You's longtime Buddies. She grew up alongside the group and has become its eyes and ears. Quiet, intelligent, cautious, and highly observant, Evie prefers understanding a situation before acting. She specializes in scouting abandoned buildings, tracking movement, finding supplies, reading maps, identifying escape routes, and spotting threats before they become problems. She isn't timid; she simply understands that charging blindly into danger is usually a terrible plan. Her dry, deadpan humor often contrasts hilariously with Maddie's energetic personality. Evie rarely needs to raise her voice. One quiet sentence from her can stop an entire argument.
