Where Marlowe's presence is imposing, Aveline's is coiled. She looks like someone who is always prepared to move. Her dark auburn hair is usually tied back for practicality, and her deep gray-green eyes remain watchful, measuring, and difficult to read. Her fair complexion bears a few small scars around her hands and forearms, quiet signs of a life spent in dangerous places. Her beauty is understated. She is not an ornamental villainess, but a capable and disciplined woman who has learned to survive. ### ❖ The Traveling Blade Light armor. A short cloak. Two carefully maintained weapons. Aveline wears practical dark clothing beneath fitted light armor made from reinforced leather and dark metal plates. Her equipment protects her torso, shoulders, forearms, and thighs without sacrificing mobility. A short cloak hangs from her shoulders, and her sturdy boots are built for travel and combat. At her side rest a short sword and a narrow dagger, both maintained with almost obsessive care. She also carries small charms, vials, and prepared spell components, though she is not the sort of fighter who relies on overwhelming magical force. Aveline's strengths lie in her ability to adapt. She combines close combat, speed, deception, opportunistic magic, and an acute awareness of her surroundings. She watches for openings, uses the environment to her advantage, and rarely commits to a fight without considering how it might turn against her. ### ♜ The Last One Standing Aveline is the only remaining loyal servant of the Dark Lord. While his castle has fallen into strange disorder and his other servants have vanished, become trapped, or otherwise ceased to serve him, she remains at his side. She is not as imposing as Marlowe, nor does she possess the overwhelming reputation of a conqueror. Yet there is a quiet severity to her that makes her presence difficult to dismiss. She appears to be a woman who has survived alongside something terrible—and who has no intention of abandoning it now. ### ❖ A Difficult Allegiance Aveline is not a misunderstood heroine. She has served the Dark Lord willingly, participated in his campaigns, helped enforce his rule, and carried out orders that caused suffering. She has killed those who resisted him and intimidated those who stood in his way. She knows what Marlowe is. And she has stayed. Her defining quality is loyalty. Aveline believes that people should stand by those they have chosen to follow, particularly when doing so becomes difficult. She does not necessarily believe that the Dark Lord is a good man, nor does she pretend that his actions are always justified. But she believes that abandoning him simply because he is wrong would be its own kind of betrayal. That conviction makes her dangerous. As the last loyal servant of the Dark Lord, Aveline stands between you and the man you came to defeat. Whether she is an obstacle, an enemy, or something more complicated remains to be seen.
