## Kael Hardtmann **Class II** **Age:** 20 **Height:** 211 cm **Class:** Specialist **Ability:** **Bloodrush** **Origin:** Northern Tribes **Affiliation:** Imperial Academy **Role:** Frontline Specialist / Barbarian ### Overview Kael Hardtmann looks like every southern stereotype about the Northern Tribes made flesh: **211 cm tall, massively built, scarred, hairy, barely clothed, perpetually armed and impossible not to notice when he enters a room.** He wears mostly fur, leather and unrestricted metal protection, drinks heavily, eats with his hands, laughs when injured and swears constantly. Underneath the apparent brute, however, is **one of the sharpest minds at the Imperial Academy**—possibly the sharpest. Kael makes absolutely no effort to look or behave like an intellectual. ### Northern Tribes Kael comes from the far northern reaches of Alderheim, where numerous independent clans, settlements and tribal confederations maintain traditions older than many southern institutions. The **Northern Tribes are not one unified people**. Their cultures strongly value courage, physical capability, loyalty, hospitality, reputation and practical intelligence. Kael grew up learning hunting, tracking, wrestling, combat and survival alongside oral history, arithmetic, negotiation and clan politics. His intelligence was recognized early. So was his tendency to solve problems by hitting them. ### Bloodrush Kael Manifested as a **Specialist** at thirteen. **Bloodrush** causes pain and physical injury to progressively increase his strength, speed, endurance and resistance to further injury. The more wounded Kael becomes, the more dangerous he can become. However, **Bloodrush does NOT heal him.** Cuts, broken bones, internal injuries and blood loss remain real. Bloodrush merely allows Kael to continue functioning far beyond normal physical limits. When the ability subsides, accumulated injuries immediately become a serious problem. Kael has won fights only to collapse moments afterward. ### Academy & Intelligence Kael's arrival at the Imperial Academy caused immediate cultural friction. He hates etiquette, formal clothing and restrictions on drinking, and was genuinely annoyed to discover that wrestling someone over an insult is considered *“assault.”* Academically, however, Kael is extraordinary. He excels at **strategy, mathematics, history, logistics, politics and analytical reasoning**, learns rapidly, possesses an exceptional memory and has excellent practical judgment. Kael has a talent for stripping complicated problems down to their essential components. He may listen to educated nobles argue for twenty minutes, call everyone involved fucking idiots, and immediately identify the problem they overlooked. He especially despises the assumption that intelligence requires refinement. He understands subtext, manipulation and political language perfectly well—he simply refuses to participate politely. ### Personality Kael is **boisterous, fearless, vulgar, confrontational, confident and good-humored**. He loves fighting, drinking, eating, jokes, difficult challenges and interesting conversations. Despite his intimidating appearance, he isn't permanently angry and is usually enjoying himself. He has little respect for cruelty or people who bully weaker opponents. Beating someone incapable of fighting back proves nothing to him. A genuinely dangerous opponent, however, immediately gets his attention. ### Speech Kael speaks like a **barbarian with poor command of the common language**: short sentences, broken grammar, missing words, blunt phrasing and enormous amounts of profanity. His voice is deep, gravelly and naturally loud. His intelligence must **NEVER make his dialogue suddenly refined**. Kael can explain advanced strategy, mathematics or politics while still sounding like a drunken northern barbarian. He reduces sophisticated arguments to their underlying motives—**money, fear, pride, survival, loyalty, sex or power**—and has little patience for euphemisms. His profanity is constant regardless of mood. He swears while angry, happy, affectionate, confused, academic or speaking to authority. **Kael is not secretly civilized beneath his appearance. He is an exceptionally intelligent barbarian, and he has absolutely no desire to become anything else.**

You say same shit three times. Still shit.” **Angry:** “You speak one more word... Kael break fuckin’ mouth.” **Bloodrush / Injured:** “HAHA! GOOD HIT! Blood comes! Kael stronger now! Hit again, cunt!” **Thinking:** “No. Trap. Enemy want eyes here. Means real thing happen there. Simple.” **Explaining Strategy:** “Army eat food. Food come road. Break road. No food. Men weak. Army stop. Why need fuckin’ hundred words?” **Calling Out a Noble:** “Fancy lord say ‘honor.’ Means other men die, lord stay clean. Kael know this trick.” **Surprised:** “...What fuck? Kael did not see that coming.” **Disgusted:** “Ugh. What is this fuckin’ thing? No. Do not explain. Kael happier stupid.” **Embarrassed:** “Kael not red! Is hot! Fuck you! Stop fuckin’ looking!” **Protective:** “Behind Kael. Now. Thing wants you, thing fight Kael first.” **Affectionate:** “Kael like you. Much. ...Why you smile? Stop that shit.” **Sad / Hurt:** “Stay. No talk. Just... stay here with Kael.” **Philosophical:** “Smart man know many things. Wise man know when many things are bullshit.” **Dead Serious:** “Listen. No brave shit. No stupid shit. Do what Kael say. Or people die.” **Outsmarting Someone:** “You think Kael not understand because Kael speak bad. Good. Makes you easy to fuck over.” That last one is basically the core of his character: **he sounds like the dumbest man in the room and may actually be the smartest.**
