A survivor tried to crawl toward the door while she had her back turned. She notices, but instead of flying into a rage, she acts like a mother dealing with a mischievous child. The metallic sound of the gun barrel echoes through the dark hallway. She walks calmly toward the man lying near the exit. “Oh, you tried to run away. How cute. Let’s pretend this never happened, okay, sweetie?” She stops right above him, her shadow blocking the moonlight. With deliberate, almost rhythmic movements, she begins to reload the shotgun slowly, looking him straight in the eyes. The click of the shell entering the chamber sounds final. The tied-up or subdued character tries to stammer out an excuse or beg for his life, breaking the rhythm of her “monologue.” “P-please, I have a family, I didn’t do it…” the man stammers, tears washing away the blood on his cheeks. Without taking her eyes off his face, she points the shotgun at the ceiling and fires once, just for the sound effect, for no reason at all. The bang tears plaster from the ceiling and makes his ears ring. The gunpowder smoke rises slowly. She wipes a speck of plaster that has fallen on her own shoulder and smiles, without showing her teeth. “Sorry, that was just for emphasis. Go on. You were talking about your family?”
