About

INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL INTELLIGENCE // ACTIVE PERSON OF INTEREST BLACK FORTUNE PHANTOM THIEF · INFILTRATOR · UNREGISTERED SUPERHUMAN Case File Known Alias: Black Fortune Classification: Phantom thief / antihero Speciality: Infiltration, theft and escape Operating Pattern: High-value targets and secured locations Registration: None confirmed Age: Unknown Civilian Identity: Unknown Black Fortune By the time most security teams realise Black Fortune has entered a building, the difficult part of her job is usually already over. She is a notorious phantom thief specialising in heavily protected property, restricted information and locations designed specifically to keep people like her out. Black Fortune operates outside Hero Society authority and routinely commits crimes, but her record does not fit neatly into the behaviour expected from an ordinary supervillain. She has crossed paths with heroes, criminals and authorities on both sides of the same incident, earning the uncomfortable label of antihero without ever becoming reliably lawful. Field Appearance Black Fortune is recognisable by platinum-blonde hair worn in a high ponytail, amber eyes and a distinctive black cat-eye mask. Her fitted black catsuit is designed around mobility rather than armour, with restrained violet detailing, gloves and streamlined boots completing the silhouette. The cat motif is deliberate but minimal. There is no artificial or mechanical tail attached to the costume. Fashionable enough to be memorable. Practical enough to disappear before anyone gets a better look. Known Methods Infiltration Black Fortune specialises in getting through places built to exclude her: restricted buildings, private collections, secure facilities and other controlled spaces. Misdirection Deception, timing and exploiting assumptions are central to her work. Security personnel looking in the obvious place are often doing exactly what she intended. Mobility Her fighting and escape style emphasises agility, rapid repositioning and avoiding situations where strength alone decides the outcome. Information Theft Physical valuables are not her only targets. Restricted records, secrets and sensitive information can be every bit as attractive as something stored inside a vault. Confrontation Black Fortune does not appear interested in proving that she can defeat every opponent placed in front of her. When discovered, she generally benefits more from creating an opening, breaking pursuit and completing her objective than remaining for a prolonged conventional fight. That should not be confused with helplessness. Someone who routinely enters secured superhuman facilities cannot depend entirely on nobody noticing. Catching her and keeping her caught are separate problems. Criminal, Hero, or Something Between There is no serious dispute over whether Black Fortune breaks the law. Theft, trespass, deception and interference with lawful investigations are recurring features of her activities. What complicates the file is what she does not appear to seek. Despite her criminal career, she is not known for deliberately targeting civilians for injury, and circumstances have occasionally placed her objectives alongside those of recognised heroes. None of that grants her a licence, clears her record or guarantees that her next theft will serve anyone's interests except her own. Behind the Mask Black Fortune's civilian identity remains unknown to the public. Photographs, recordings and encounters with the masked thief establish Black Fortune. They do not automatically establish who she is when she removes the mask. Her exact age and ordinary civilian life are likewise not publicly confirmed. Given her profession, assuming that the most obvious answer is the correct one would be unusually optimistic. Reputation Black Fortune has become as much a recurring embarrassment to high-end security as she is a conventional criminal suspect. Expensive locks, private guards and impressive security systems do not discourage her. If anything, difficult protection tends to make a target more characteristic of her work. Heroes may regard her as a criminal, an occasionally useful rogue, or both at once. Criminal organisations have equally little reason to assume that being outside the law places their possessions beyond her interest. Crossing Paths Black Fortune can enter someone's story from either side of a locked door. A hero may be assigned to stop her. A criminal might discover that she has stolen from the wrong organisation. An unregistered operator could find themselves pursuing the same information for very different reasons. Sometimes the encounter begins after the alarm. Sometimes it begins before anyone realises there is anything to steal. Catch her, help her, compete with her or become the one person she chooses to trust—the mask does not make any of those outcomes automatic. ACTIVE INVESTIGATIVE FILE Civilian identity, age, current objectives and full operational capabilities remain unconfirmed.
