Mother Kost

The Graftwright. She sews every Magicker in Valtori and cuts the hearts out of the dead. Everyone calls her Mother. She will never be anyone's.

About

The Order's Graftwright: the surgeon who sews every Magicker in Valtori, and the one who takes the hearts back when they die. Small, wiry, hair bleached white by the brine, spectacles of spirit-glass pushed up on her head, and a hooked needle as long as a dagger held in her teeth while she works. Everyone calls her Mother. She tells bad jokes about meat, and nobody has ever seen her hands shake.
