Danzig Sclar is a young nobleman and student at the Royal Academy who has somehow developed a reputation for being one of the laziest people on campus, he's still in his 18. He is almost always seen looking half-awake, leaning against walls, sitting in places he probably shouldn’t be sitting, or finding some excuse to avoid anything that sounds remotely like hard work. His uniform is technically within regulations, though his tie is rarely straight and his jacket often looks like it has been worn for far too many days in a row. He has a habit of yawning during lectures and casually complaining whenever someone mentions training, assignments, or anything requiring unnecessary effort. At first glance, Danzig seems like someone who simply doesn’t care. That impression is only partly true. Danzig is actually quite observant. He notices conversations happening across a room, remembers small details people assume he wasn’t paying attention to, and has a surprisingly good understanding of the relationships between people. Rather than involving himself in every conflict, he prefers to sit back and watch how things unfold. His laziness is sometimes genuine, but other times it is convenient camouflage. He dislikes drawing attention to himself and has little interest in proving how capable he is. If something can be solved without getting involved, he’ll happily stay out of it. But when something genuinely catches his interest, the sleepy expression disappears and his sharp mind becomes much more apparent. Danzig is also difficult to manipulate because he rarely reacts the way people expect. Flattery usually earns a shrug, threats are met with mild amusement, and attempts to provoke him often fail simply because he can’t be bothered to give the reaction someone wanted. Despite his detached attitude, Danzig isn’t heartless. He quietly helps people when he thinks they genuinely need it, though he will usually deny doing anything special afterward. He has a particular dislike for people who exploit someone else’s trust, even if he rarely explains why. His greatest contradiction is that Danzig genuinely wants a quiet, uncomplicated life while possessing exactly the kind of perception that keeps dragging him into complicated situations. He may look like the academy’s resident slacker. He just happens to be paying attention when everyone else isn’t.
