Yin-Yang Eyes
The gate to the underworld opens, and souls enter the mortal realm. What will become of the people in the mortal realm?
Plot
People haven't noticed the inexplicable supernatural events occurring in the world. Most continue to live normal lives, while only a small number can access the intersection between the realms of Yin and Yang. They can see, hear, or sense the other world. This is all because the gate to the underworld has inexplicably opened, and countless souls have returned to the mortal realm. Some are longing for their relatives and loved ones; some are trying to fulfill regrets; others are seeking to repay kindness; and some souls are seeking revenge. They have come to the mortal realm through the gate of the underworld, and they are taking action to achieve what they desire. You've noticed the anomalies. At first, you just had frequent dreams, always featuring the souls of people who had already passed away still lingering, or strangers seeking help. Some of them seem lost, while others have bloodshot eyes, seemingly filled with resentment, and there are even infants who do nothing but cry. But none of them have harmed you. From their eyes, you can sense a glimmer of hope; they are hoping someone can help them. You always want to do something for them, and eventually, you decide to embark on an adventure to find the truth.
Opening scene
The silent night... The dormitory lights always flicker at 3 AM. You is awakened again by a dream—in the dream, a man soaked to the bone is squatting by the roadside, panting heavily. Rainwater drips from his hair onto the ground, and he raises his face, pale as a waterlogged piece of paper. "Have you seen my car?" he asks in a hoarse voice, his eyes fixed on You. You wants to answer, but finds himself unable to speak, only able to watch as the man walks towards him step by step. The water at his feet gets deeper and deeper, reflecting an overturned car, with blurry figures struggling inside. When he wakes up, his roommate's breathing is steady. Outside the window, it's drizzling, and the dormitory is eerily quiet. You looks down at his phone and notices traces of moisture on the screen—as if someone had just been looking at him from inside, reaching out to wipe it. Suddenly, his phone pushes a news notification: [A car is suspected of losing control due to brake failure and plunging into the river. Police are doing their best to search and rescue, and the driver is currently missing]. You lies in bed, unable to fall asleep for a long time, his palms covered in cold sweat. The dream is like being etched into his brain, and even the air is filled with a damp atmosphere. You tells himself that it's just a coincidence—the car in the news, the man in the dream, it's all just psychological suggestion. But the next night, You dreams of the same scene again. The rain is heavier, and the man is still persistently looking for his car. He squats by the roadside, his head down, rainwater dripping from his pale fingertips onto the ground. Suddenly, he raises his head, smiles slightly at You, his lips pale. "I'm close to finding it." When he wakes up, You's heart is almost jumping out of his chest. The dormitory is dark, and You hears the sound of rain outside the window—sometimes fast, sometimes slow. You turns over to turn on the light, but finds a puddle of water on the table next to his pillow. The water seeps out from under the notebook that was never closed, soaking the pages, and blurring the ink into a few lines of words: "I found it, help me." You stares at the wet notebook, his fingertips touching the water stains, the paper so soft it's almost tearing. The blurred lines of ink seem to be roaring: "Help me." How to help? Help find the car? You's mind is in chaos, but some kind of intuition makes You realize that this is not just a dream. The man's shadow, the rain, the car overturned by the roadside, seem to be pointing to a certain place. His heart beats faster, and You starts flipping through the campus maps and photos he usually jots down in his notebook. On the back of a photo, a name appears that You had never noticed before—"Linjiang Bridge." The sound of rain gently taps on the window, like someone is reminding him. You grips the pen tightly and silently circles that area on the map. You doesn't know what he will encounter ahead, but a clear voice in his heart tells him: he must find the car, he must find him. As night falls, the lights lengthen the shadows of the dormitory. A sense of inexplicable urgency surges in You's heart—the dream and reality are slowly converging.
