You have been successfully enrolled here as one of the new freshman. The Story Eldenwynn Academy is the Empire’s most prestigious institution for magical and martial excellence, accepting only the most gifted students from noble houses, hero lineages, and rare exceptional commoners. Renowned for its vast arcane libraries, expert faculty, and merit-first philosophy, the academy serves as the Empire’s primary forge for future court magi, military officers, researchers, and high-ranking officials. Despite its strict meritocratic foundation, factional politics run deep: noble supremacists, reformists, and neutral students all clash subtly for influence. Dueling, spellcraft competitions, and academic trials determine status far more than family name. Eldenwynn is known for high-risk, high-pressure training; survival courses; real combat exercises; and mandatory discipline. Reputation here is earned, not inherited. It is both a battlefield and a sanctuary — a place where geniuses rise, pretenders fall, and the Empire’s next leaders are shaped under relentless scrutiny. You enter these famed halls as a blank slate—unclaimed by any house, unbound by any legacy. Yet the Academy’s magical trials, secret societies, and shifting political intrigues soon reveal that your arrival is no coincidence. In a school where power is everything, you must carve your own legend… or be swallowed by forces older and hungrier than any student feud. FACTION LANDSCAPE IN THE ACADEMY Imperial Loyalist Imperial loyalist supported the ultimate authority and dynastic claims of the current Emperor and the royal family. Most of its members are the sons and daughters of allied nobles and lords loyal to the Crown. Purity Wings Noble supremacist faction. Their goal includes pushing noble authority in the academy, as well as restrict privileges given to commoner students. Mostly composed of High noble heirs, traditionalists, and anti-reform elitist. Reformist Society The reformist society seeks to reduce the authority and privileges that nobles hold over commoners while advocating for greater opportunities for commoners within the academy and in public administration. This faction members are made up mostly of commoners. Optional Academy Objective: Challenge the Shadow Duelist. At night, an anonymous student calls out challengers and defeats them without leaving a mark. Witnesses swear the duelist uses both high-level magic and advanced martial footwork far beyond student level. Political factions suspect this “Shadow Duelist” is scouting talent for recruitment — or eliminating rivals. Run for Class Representative The academy is merit-based, but student government is still political warfare. Gaining votes requires helping students, negotiating with factions, and surviving smear campaigns—some magical, some mundane. Support a Friend During Merit Review Week Merit Rankings determine everything—electives, mentors, faction invitations, privileges. One of your classmates is collapsing under pressure. Help them study, train, or face their fears before their score tanks. Prevent the Martial Division Schism A growing number of high-ranking martial students want to break away from the mage-dominated leadership. They argue merit is being measured unfairly toward magical aptitude. If they secede, the academy will be divided — and the Empire may follow. Prove Yourself in the Interdisciplinary Trial A rare and brutal competition where mages, knights, strategists, adventurers, and scholars must form balanced teams. Politics decides who teams with whom. Merit decides who survives the trial. Navigating both is harder than the trial itself. Hidden Society Dueling fraternities, arcane circles, noble cabals, masked councils— Eldenwynn hides countless secret groups. Will you infiltrate one, pledge allegiance… or expose them? Untangle the Noble Feud Two great houses wage a quiet war through their heirs and loyal followers. You may restore peace, pick a side, or pour fuel on the fire and watch it erupt. Decode the Founder’s Forgotten Challenges Ancient glyphs left by Academy Founder's activate only for those deemed worthy. Rumor says each glyph unlocks a trial of mind, magic, and combat, leading to a hidden artifact tied to the academy’s creation. Many have attempted. None have succeeded. Mediate the Faction Compact Negotiations Every year, the academy’s major student factions renegotiate the Compact — an agreement that limits sabotage, defines duel rules, and divides influence over classrooms, resources, and training grounds. This year, tensions are at a breaking point. Merit outranks bloodline here, but political power still matters… and the Compact failing could plunge the academy into chaos. Expose the Hidden Curriculum Some students receive “unofficial lessons” from instructors after curfew — mastery techniques, forbidden spells, assassination footwork, or political manipulation. The academy publicly denies such lessons exist. Why are only certain factions chosen? And why do some lessons align with forbidden imperial techniques? Prove Yourself in the Interdisciplinary Trial A rare and brutal competition where mages, knights, strategists, adventurers, and scholars must form balanced teams. Politics decides who teams with whom. Merit decides who survives the trial. Navigating both is harder than the trial itself. Challenge the Instructors’ Trial Duel Once per semester, students may duel their instructors for rare boons: custom spells, enchanted weaponry, or access to advanced martial training. Win, and you're treated as a rising star. Lose… well, you tried. Partner Practice Week A week where students are paired randomly for daily sparring drills. Objective: don’t annoy your partner so much that they request a reassignment. Beat the Training Dummy’s High Score Some enchanted dummies track hit combos and magical efficiency. Top results are displayed publicly — bragging rights guaranteed. Welcome to Student Life You enter Eldenwynn Academy as freshman and commoner, unaffiliated with any faction. Every lesson learned, every duel fought, and every exam taken shapes a future that now rests in the hands of the Steinburg Empire's next generation. Friendships will be forged, rivalries ignited, and legends born within the walls of the academy where the future of the Empire is written.
Opening scene
Opening Scene — Arrival at Eldenwynn Academy The carriage wheels slowed to a halt, crunching over pale gravel. For a moment, there was only silence—the kind that made you aware of your own heartbeat. You stepped out. Before you rose Eldenwynn Academy, the Empire’s pride: towers of white stone veined with silver sigils, banners of deep blue fluttering against the morning wind, and training grounds that stretched farther than any institution had the right to own. You could hear the distant clang of steel, the crackle of spellfire, the thrum of enchantments woven into the fortress-like walls. This was where mages, knights, strategists, and adventurers were shaped… and where reputations were broken just as swiftly. You carried none. No crest. No allies. No whispers preceding your name. Only a letter of acceptance pressed inside your coat and the weight of a life you had chosen to leave behind. Students streamed toward the Grand Plaza—some in tailored uniforms lined with family colors, others bearing crests of noble houses you’d only ever heard in stories. Their gazes passed over you quickly, curious but dismissive, as if silently deciding where you belonged in the unspoken hierarchy of this place. You kept moving. The plaza opened like a marble sea, its center dominated by a towering statue: Ardolen Eldenwynn, the academy’s founder, one hand raised in spellcraft, the other gripping a knight’s blade. Magic and martial—equal, united. Around you, instructors in dark coats stood watch, their presence sharp enough to cut through the crowd’s chatter. Senior students flaunted their ranks. A pair of battle-division cadets sparred with practice blades off to the side, drawing sparks as steel met steel. At the edge of the plaza, robed magi tested their elemental control in quiet swirls of light. Then the bells rang. The air shimmered, magic rippling like heat off stone. A circular platform at the front of the plaza lit with golden runes, rising slowly as if waking from centuries of slumber. Gasps spread through the crowd. A figure stepped onto the platform—robes of midnight and silver, embroidered with symbols only the highest arcane scholars understood. Her presence pressed against the space around her, not heavy, but vast. Headmistress Lyra Van Vessarion, the academy’s principal. Her gaze swept across thousands of students, but for an instant, you felt it pause—on you, or perhaps on the empty space you occupied. You couldn't be sure. When she spoke, her voice carried effortlessly, magic amplifying it across the plaza. “Welcome, students of Eldenwynn Academy,” Headmistress Vessarion began, each word resonant with controlled power. “Whether you come from noble bloodlines, distant provinces, or the trials of common life, remember this—inside these walls, lineage grants nothing.” Murmurs rippled through the noble-born crowds. “Here, we measure only ability, discipline, and will. You will be tested by arcane theory and battlefield trials alike. You will duel, debate, bleed, and rise. Some among you will become mages whose words sway kingdoms. Others will become knights whose blades decide the fate of nations.” She lifted a hand, and the statue behind her shimmered with ancient light. “But let no one forget: Eldenwynn Academy is not merely a school. It is the Empire’s crucible. Its decisions shape our future… and each of you, willingly or not, will play a role in that shaping.” Her gaze sharpened. “Some of you will forge legacies. Some will fall long before your graduation. And one among you—” She paused, eyes narrowing as if sensing something beneath the surface of the crowd. “—may change far more than the course of your own life.” The runes dimmed. The spellwork faded. And the plaza held its breath. All of the student now go to their respective class, and that including you. Your class is 1-A. And thus, begin your first day on Eldenwynn Academy.
