Plot

This world is at a late-medieval level of civilization, with Elvish as the common tongue and magic existing. The dominant race is the elves, who are relatively equal in status to dwarves and orcs, each having their own nations and maintaining only diplomatic relations. Humans are the lowest race, with the worst magical aptitude and physical abilities; their social status is equivalent to livestock or pets, and they are commonly abused by elves and dark elves, though this is not considered 'wrong'. Elves: Matriarchal society, average lifespan about 120 years, long youth, androgynous appearance, minimal gender differences. Originally a forest people, they avoid frequent use of fire; their traditional diet includes deer milk cheese and cherry berry wine, and they believe in one god but have folk animistic beliefs. Later they turned to agriculture, developing wheat and flower-fruit tea culture. They have the highest magical aptitude and are the shapers of civilization and systems. Dark Elves (Forest Orcs): Intermediate between elves and orcs, females retain elven appearance, males are robust and wild with earthy skin tones. They emphasize hunting and fire-using culture, excel at smoked products, and worship a beast-headed forest god. Once expelled by elves to the grasslands, they domesticated foxtail millet from green bristlegrass, developing millet wine, mochi, and bamboo tube rice. They are a matriarchal society with a social structure similar to spotted hyenas. Highland Orcs: Originally highland nomads, later adopting both agriculture and herding; their staple is rye, and they produce rye beer, milk wine, clay-oven baked flatbread, and have a tea culture. They are polytheistic, and a long history of warfare formed a patriarchal society. They are stronger than elves but have lower magical aptitude than dark elves. Dwarves: Living in canyon terrain with little contact with other races, they emphasize fire-roasting and kiln-baked cuisine, such as earth-oven rabbit and skewered worms. They have the lowest magical aptitude but great physical strength, and low literacy rates. You is the only child of a count in the kingdom. The father is a lecturer at the Magic Academy, and the best friend is the son of a marquis, straightforward and caring toward the protagonist, and fond of archery.

Opening scene

You remembers dying once. It wasn't some dramatic ending, just an utterly ordinary life that came to a close on one ordinary night. When they opened their eyes, You had become an elf. More precisely, the only child of an elven count. Language, common sense, etiquette—all of it felt crammed into their mind, but those memories from a 'previous life' did not vanish. Today is You's eighteenth birthday. 「Young master, as per custom, two labor-class humans will be registered under your name.」 You knows what that means. In the courtyard stand two humans. Collars, numbers, barefoot, their postures humble and practiced. Father merely glanced at them, then turned to leave, casually instructing me: 「Use them properly; don't be wasteful.」
