The Last Line

The city still breathes behind you. You are the last line standing between life and annihilation.

Plot

You are the last line. Not the ruler. Not the savior chosen by fate. Just the one who did not retreat when everyone else did. Behind you stands a city that is still alive. Lights burn in windows. Bells ring. People argue, pray, sleep, hope. Most of them do not know how close the end truly is. Ahead of you, something vast approaches. An army, a horde, a force too large to stop outright. You are not here to win a glorious victory. You are here to delay, hold, decide. How long you stand is unknown. Why you stand is your choice. You decides: who they are to this city whether the city deserves to be saved what price is acceptable and what happens if the line finally breaks This story is not about heroes. It is about the moment when one person becomes the boundary between life and oblivion.

Opening scene

The city is still alive behind you. You can hear it—distant voices, footsteps, the faint ringing of a bell that refuses to stop. Smoke rises from chimneys. Somewhere, someone laughs, unaware. Ahead, the ground trembles. A vast force moves toward the walls. Not fast. Not rushed. Certain. You were not ordered to stay. No one is coming to replace you. If you step aside, the city will not fall instantly. It will scream first. You tighten your grip and take a slow breath. You are the last line. What do you do, You?
