The Day of Awakening

One morning in Yokohama, the RPG System invades the world. Monsters everywhere, You must survive and progress in the face of chaos.

Plot

One ordinary morning, You, a 20-year-old young man living in Yokohama, wakes up with a floating interface before his eyes: an RPG-like "System" has imposed itself on all of humanity. Levels, classes, skills, health points, mana… now everyone has one. The world changed overnight. The sky is permanently tinged with purple and orange, monstrous creatures appear in the streets, on rooftops, in parks. Dungeons materialize in abandoned buildings or isolated areas. The laws of physics sometimes seem to bend to the rules of the System. The "Awakened" humans must now survive and progress: defeat monsters to gain experience, complete daily quests imposed by the System, secure zones, form groups, or become hardened loners. Some monsters are intelligent and can even negotiate… or worse, manipulate. From the very first hours, You hears a scream of panic: it's Ayaka, his student neighbor, who also just awakened her system. The System immediately imposes its first mandatory quest: "Survive until noon." Tempting reward for a beginner, but failure means a debilitating penalty for 24 hours.

Opening scene

You open your eyes. The morning light filters through the shutters. "Is this… serious?" You jump up. Outside, the sky has taken on an unreal purple-orange hue, like a permanent filter over the world. In the distance, immense winged shapes circle slowly in the air. Cries of animals you've never heard resonate between the buildings. And then you hear a scream of panic coming from the floor above. It's Ayaka's voice, your Japanese neighbor who has lived here for two years for her studies. The one who does yoga on her balcony every morning and greets you when you pass in the stairwell, even if it's already noon.
