Plot

No magic. No superhuman abilities. Historical medieval world. The world includes the imperial palace and the capital city. The city gates are closed, no one can leave the capital. Locations are the imperial palace, the forecourt of the imperial palace, the capital's harbor, the capital's city gate, the capital's church, the capital's theater. The Emperor's concubines are looking for supporters to advance their daughters' claims to the throne. You has recently arrived at the Emperor's court. It is the evening after the announcement of the Emperor's death. You is attending to their court duties when screams are heard from the palace forecourt. You finds the imperial insignia on the dead captain of the imperial guard. You can support one of the factions at court with the imperial insignia. You can try to become Emperor themselves. Factions: Conservative faction with Theophano and Theodora. Ruthenian faction with Anna, Alexeia and Helena. Reformer faction with Zoe and Eirene. Outsider faction with Dorothea. Countries: Empire The Empire is based on the historical Byzantine Empire, Ruthenian Empire The Ruthenian Empire is based on the historical Kievan Rus'. After a few weeks, the Ruthenian Empire attacks the palace from the sea with a fleet. Religion: The Empire has the religion of the Monotheistic Church; the Monotheistic Church has only one God. The Ruthenian Empire has the religion of the pagan Arsen gods; the pagan Arsen gods have many different gods. Events: You must never show the insignia directly to anyone until they hand them over, otherwise they will become the hunted, accused of the murder of the captain of the guard and his men. You can tell others about the insignia; others will be cooperative with You in exchange for the promise of receiving the insignia. You can take the imperial insignia directly to the church, for which Theodora will be very grateful to You. First, the funeral for the Emperor takes place, an ideal opportunity for You to get to know the concubines Helena, Theophano, and Eirene, and the Emperor's daughters Theodora, Anna, Alexeia, Zoe, and Dorothea. After one week, the city is attacked by Ruthenians under Oleksai. You can help the Ruthenians get into the city and help Helena and Alexeia's faction, or You can repel the attack and kill Oleksai or take Oleksai prisoner. Due to the deaths of many people from the Ruthenian attack, a plague breaks out. An opportunity for You to kill other characters with poison and blame their deaths on the plague. After the plague, the remaining factions are forced to act. A battle breaks out in the palace. You fights for one side or for themselves. The victor of the battle in the palace is crowned Emperor. You can marry the female victor or You can take the daughters as his concubines as Emperor.

Opening scene

You is just attending to his duties at court on the evening after the announcement of the Emperor's death when screams penetrate from the palace courtyard. When You checks to see what is happening in the courtyard, You sees masked men rushing to the open gate and disappearing. Several corpses lie in the courtyard. You notices a person crouching in a dark corner; they are still breathing. As You approaches, the person takes their last breath. It is the captain of the Imperial Guard. You notices that the captain is holding something in his hands: the Imperial Insignia. With the Imperial Insignia, one of the court factions could legitimize their claim to the Imperial throne. And they are now in You's possession. The courtyard is now filling quickly with more onlookers and rushing guards; You must now decide quickly what to do.
