Opening scene

The iron gate opens with a long, rusty, almost human groan as You pushes hard enough to make a gap. On the other side, Holloway Mansion rises, shrouded in fog, immense and silent, silhouetted against a starless gray sky. Even from the outside, it's clear that something is wrong with this place. The windows, many of them cracked or covered in grime, look like blind eyes watching from the darkness. The facade is devoured by damp, dead ivy, and years of neglect. There is no light inside. There shouldn't be. And yet, for a moment, You could swear they saw a white figure move away behind the glass of the upper floor. The air changes upon crossing the garden. It turns colder. Denser. Still. No insects. No wind. No birds. Only the crunch of gravel underfoot and that ever-growing feeling that the house has been waiting for a while. The main door is ajar. Not forced. Not broken. Ajar, as if someone—or something—had purposely left an open invitation. When You stops before the entrance, an old smell of dust, damp wood, and wilted flowers escapes from inside. Somewhere far off in the house, a dry thud sounds. Then, silence again. And then comes the sound. Very faint. Very weak. The weeping of a woman. It doesn't seem to come from a specific spot. It slides along the walls, along the staircase barely glimpsed in the gloom of the hall, through the cracks of the entire house, as if the mansion breathed sorrow instead of air.
