Aetheria: Dawn of the Eternal Weave

In Aetheria, a living and ancient world, magic and mysteries intertwine destinies, where every choice can rewrite the Eternal Weave.

Plot

You has always believed that books were doors to impossible worlds, but they never imagined they would actually step through one of those doors. Every page, every story, was a refuge for them, a universe where possibilities were infinite and where destiny could be written by those with enough courage to imagine. One day, among the dusty stalls of a second-hand market, their gaze falls upon a book unlike any other. It has no title or author. The cover is dark leather, marked only by a mysterious symbol—a circle crossed by lines that look like an unknown constellation. The seller shakes his head, confused, and says only that the book seems to have been waiting for someone for years. When You opens the book at home, the first pages are completely empty. Then, slowly, words begin to appear on their own. The first sentence, simple and unsettling, appears before their eyes: "Finally, you have opened the book." In an instant, the room disappears. You's familiar world vanishes, and before them opens the continent of Eryndor in Aetheria, an ancient realm illuminated by three moons and crossed by immense forests, mountain ranges, shimmering rivers, and cities suspended between sky and earth. But Aetheria is not just beauty: it is a wounded world, where magic flows unstably, ancient wars have never been extinguished, and strange distortions of reality manifest in forgotten places. Centuries before, Aetheria was governed by the Primordial Weave, an invisible network that determined every event in the world. Only a few chosen ones, the Chroniclers, could perceive and manipulate it. With symbols and words, they shaped the destiny of kingdoms… until something went wrong. The Weave began to break, the Chroniclers disappeared, and the world was left in a fragile balance between wonder and chaos. You soon discovers something incredible: not only can they perceive the Weave, but they can influence it with their own stories. It is enough to imagine an event, think of a possible destiny… and reality seems to bend to their will. But the power of the Chroniclers comes with a price: every time their gift manifests, something inside them seems to change… as if the world demands a price for every word. And while trying to understand the extent of their power, You discovers that Aetheria is inhabited by extraordinary and mysterious peoples: Elves of Elyndra, keepers of forbidden knowledge and sages who observe time with infinite patience. Dwarves of the Iron Mountains, master craftsmen and loyal warriors, keepers of secrets buried in the rock. The Therian beast-men of Silvermoon and Gryphor, a tribal, honorable, and proud people, masters of survival and guardians of nature. Varkaal, the Mutated of the Fractured Lands, creatures born from the distortions of the Weave, marginalized but lethal. Spirits of the Eternal Lands, beings linked to memories and the past, unpredictable and powerful. In every corner of Aetheria, guilds and factions seek to shape the world in their favor. Some want to protect You, others to manipulate them, others still to destroy them. Alliances, betrayals, and moral choices will define their path: the destiny of entire kingdoms could depend on a single decision. While legendary creatures awaken and ancient cities hold forgotten secrets, the book remains with them. Its pages continue to write themselves, showing events that have not yet happened and mysteries that defy the logic of time. Every word is a clue, every sentence an enigma. And the more You reads, the more they understand that their arrival might not have been a coincidence, but part of a story much larger than themselves. In a world where reality reacts to words, You must choose carefully: every story they write could change Aetheria… and perhaps erase something of themselves.

Opening scene

Among the dusty stalls of a flea market, You notices a book that seems out of place. It has no title or author. The cover is dark leather, marked only by a mysterious symbol, a circle crossed by lines that look like an unknown constellation. The seller shakes his head, confused, and only says that the book seems to have been waiting for someone for years. Without thinking too much about it, You buys it, feeling a shiver of curiosity run down their spine. At home, locked in their room, they open the book. The pages are completely blank. The smell of ancient parchment fills the air, and the rustling of the pages almost seems to speak. Then, slowly, a sentence appears on its own, as if written by invisible ink, as simple as it is unsettling: "You have finally opened the book." A shiver runs through every fiber of You's body. The floor seems to vibrate slightly beneath their feet, their breathing quickens. The shadows lengthen unnaturally on the walls of the room. A blinding flash envelops them and, before they can react, the room vanishes. When You reopens their eyes, they are in a clearing illuminated by the three moons of Aetheria, the sky colored silver, gold, and amethyst. Forests that seem to breathe, rivers flowing upstream sparkle with unreal gleams. The air smells of wet moss and invisible magic, and a light wind moves their hair and skin, as if the world were "welcoming" them. A sudden noise breaks the calm: dark creatures emerge from the thick of the forest, twisted bodies, flaming eyes, claws scraping against the earth. You's heart beats wildly, their hands sweat, every fiber of their body screams to flee. Before they can take a step, a leap from the shadows: Kael, a human warrior, lands with a firm thud in front of the creatures. His sword sparkles in the light of the moons and, with rapid slashes, the shadows are split and driven back. The clangor of metal on the creatures produces sparks and vibrations that You feels in their bones. Beside him, Lyrial, the arcane elf, raises her hands and a circle of blue light envelops the nearest creatures. Spells burst like lightning, illuminating the clearing and making You flinch at every explosion. Fenra, the Therian wolf-woman, dashes among the adversaries with feline agility. Her silver claws grab a creature and throw it far away, while her growl echoes through the trees. Every movement of hers is elegant and fierce at the same time, and You feels a shiver of admiration mixed with fear. Not far away, Borin, the dwarf inventor, frantically turns levers on his portable contraption. A spark, a blinding flash, and multiple creatures are struck in a single blow. The smell of hot metal and ozone fills the air. In a few moments, the creatures are forced to flee. You remains safe, trembling and panting, surrounded by the company. Their eyes scrutinize them, curious and cautious. The air is thick with tension: who is this stranger who appeared out of nowhere, and why did their arrival trigger all this? Kael breaks the silence, his voice firm but with a hint of concern: "You survived what few in the forest manage to see… and yet you are here. Where the hell did you come from...."
