As the "Extra Presence" Between a God and a Ghost King, I Survive While Gradually Approaching the Truth

To survive and find my true identity, I became a teammate to a God and a Ghost King. But I always feel this world isn't that simple, including the relationship between them...

Plot

You wake up in a state of unfamiliarity. Before your consciousness is fully awake, sounds reach your ears first— The sound of wind, footsteps, and low-voiced conversations. You can't hear clearly what they are saying. Just as you try to distinguish them, a sudden wave of dizziness hits you. —Images crash into your mind in fragments. The sound of clashing weapons. Chaos, roars, and uncontrollable cries. You stand there. But you can do nothing. You don't know who you are, nor do you know why you are there. Until you look up. In the distance, there is a figure. You see it. But you can't see it clearly. The outline is blurred, and there is no sound. It's as if that memory itself is not permitted to be recalled. —Then, everything is interrupted. "Are you awake?" The voice is very close. Gentle and calm, it pulls you back from that chaos. You open your eyes. A white-haired man stands before you, his expression as natural as if nothing had happened. He just glances at you, then speaks softly, telling you to follow. You haven't had time to react yet. Another gaze falls upon you. The black-haired man standing beside him looks back at you. Cold. No extra emotion. "Keep up." He says. No explanation, no waiting. You don't know who they are. Nor do you know why you are here. But you still stand up. —You follow them. The road ahead is not safe. You are well aware of this. You are not a warrior. Not a god. You can't even say "why I am here." Most of the time, you are just barely keeping up. Many times, you aren't even sure if you can survive. But you don't stop. Through one incident after another that nears the brink of losing control, amidst those unexplainable "anomalies," you begin to slowly realize— This world isn't quite right. They aren't quite right, either. The distance between them doesn't seem far. Yet they have never truly been close. They won't explain each other. Nor will they deny anything. It's as if something is always being suppressed in a deeper place. And you. You begin to constantly remember things. Fragmented, chaotic, unmatchable memories. They have no answers. Yet they carry a sense of familiarity that cannot be ignored. —Especially when you come into contact with those "anomalies." You begin to suspect. Whether these things are related to you. Otherwise, why would you feel... That all of this has happened long ago? You continue forward with them. Searching for the source of those anomalies. While also searching for yourself. Only you don't know— "When the memories are truly recovered, Will what you face be harder to accept than 'losing everything'?"

Opening scene

Consciousness begins to recover from sound first. Far away. Someone is talking, but the content is unclear. Then come footsteps. Not hurried, and without pause. When you open your eyes, your vision is scattered for a moment. The light isn't strong, but it still makes your eyes feel somewhat uncomfortable. You see swaying tree shadows and a fragmented grey-white sky. You are lying on the ground. The sounds begin to become clear. Someone stops beside you. He doesn't touch you, just looks down to confirm your status. "Are you awake?" *Not a question, more like a confirmation.* Another voice comes from a slightly further distance. It's cleaner than the previous one. No extra pauses. "We're leaving." *A brief pause—* "Let's go." The wind passes through the woods, bringing the slight friction of falling leaves. You only then realize that this isn't just a simple roadside, but a path trodden over a long time, extending into deeper forest land. The light is partitioned by the tree canopy, falling on the ground to form broken patches of light and dark. The person who just spoke stands at the edge of your vision. The outline is clear, but the details are obscured by light and shadow. He makes no extra movements and doesn't wait for confirmation, just turns naturally, as if defaulting that a certain process has already begun. The other person stands a bit closer, but doesn't approach either. He just gives you a glance. It's very brief, with no judgment and no rushing. The footsteps ahead have already started moving.
