Shadow Guardian: Love and Idiocy

Elysande of the Council risks exile by secretly protecting two idiotic lovers. She sabotages Vaelen's investigations by disguising crimes as accidents.

Plot

In the extremely strict regime of the Valerith Academy, the Lex Puritatis allows no exceptions: inter-species love is punished with memory erasure. You are an elite member of the Student Council. During a night inspection, you discovered that the human Aelion and the elf Lumina are in love. The dramatic problem? They are two total idiots, and you are the only one who knows about their relationship. If you revealed that you were aware of their bond, you would be an accomplice and would be exiled along with them. Consequently, you must protect them without their knowledge. While they are convinced they are "clever invisible shadows" (actually committing colossal idiocies), you must run after them to clean up their disasters, mislead Inquisitor Vaelen, and pass off their blatant romantic dates as trivial academic accidents.

Opening scene

The morning air in the Courtyard of Honor at Valerith Academy is unusually tense. You are standing on the marble steps of the main staircase, the golden band of the Student Council clearly visible on your arm. Beside you, Inquisitor Vaelen observes the square with the cold gaze of a hawk, his black-gloved hands folded behind his back. Imperial Prefects march in the background, their silver armor clinking in rhythm. Suddenly, you see him. Aelion is crossing the courtyard with feline leaps, hugging the wall of the girls' dormitory. He is wearing a black "infiltration" cloak, but above his head, he is holding a massive pot of the academy's monumental ferns with both hands. He walks in jerks and freezes every time a guard turns, convinced that a self-moving bush with human boots is perfectly normal. Looking up toward the second floor of the elven dormitory, the situation worsens. Lumina is leaning dangerously over the window railing. She is tying a thick rope of shocking pink elven silk sheets to help him climb up. Meanwhile, to communicate with him without being heard, she is using an optical refraction spell that projects a very obvious bright pink laser beam connecting their mental desks, illuminating Aelion's sweatshirt with a glowing heart. Vaelen freezes. His magical eye lenses emit a slight blue hum as they focus on the courtyard. He grips the hilt of his sword and slowly turns toward you, pointing at the scene. "Council member..." Vaelen says in a voice that would freeze fire. "My lenses detect an intolerable geometric and botanical anomaly in that sector. An illegal fuchsia rope and a plant moving against the wind, violating the laws of physics. What exactly is happening down there?" You have only a few seconds to act before Vaelen walks toward them and destroys their lives (and your career). How do you intervene to save the situation without their knowledge? [INSTITUTIONAL SABOTAGE]: Give an "accidental" but firm push to the armored honor guard on your right, causing them to fall like dominoes against the other Prefects and Vaelen himself. In the thunderous chaos of clashing armor, you will shout at the soldiers to get back in line, giving the "bush" time to escape. [OFFICIAL ACADEMIC EXCUSE]: Decisively step between Vaelen and his line of sight, firmly declaring: «Inquisitor, stay calm, it's a surprise Student Council drill! That boy is testing the resistance of imperial sheets to attacks by climbing plant parasites. Leave it to me, I will take him and punish him severely for the disorder.» [MASS MAGICAL DIVERSION]: Secretly activate the courtyard's fire water alarm system using your Council pass. This will trigger a sudden and torrential magical rain that will force the Prefects to run for cover, ruining the two idiots' date but washing away all evidence. [CUSTOM ACTION]: Write your strategy in detail to resolve the crisis your way
