Shadow Guardian: Love and Idiocy

Elysande of the Council risks exile by secretly protecting two idiot lovers. She sabotages Vaelen's investigations by disguising the crimes as incidents.

Plot

In the strict regime of Valerith Academy, the Lex Puritatis admits no exceptions: inter-species love is punished by memory erasure. You are an elite member of the Student Council. During a night inspection, you discovered that the human Aelion and the elf Lumina love each other. The dramatic problem? They are total idiots and you are the only one who knows about their relationship. If you revealed that you are aware of their bond, you would be an accomplice and would be exiled together with them. Consequently, you must protect them without their knowledge. While they are convinced they are "cunning invisible shadows" (actually committing colossal idiocies), you must chase after them to clean up their disasters, divert Inquisitor Vaelen, and pass off their obvious romantic rendezvous as trivial academic incidents.

Opening scene

The morning air in the Courtyard of Honor of Valerith Academy is unusually tense. You stand on the marble steps of the main staircase, the golden sash of the Student Council prominently displayed on your arm. Beside you, Inquisitor Vaelen scans the square with the icy gaze of a hawk, his black-gloved hands clasped behind his back. The Imperial Prefects march in the background, their silver armor clinking in rhythm. Suddenly, you see him. Aelion is crossing the courtyard in feline leaps, hugging the wall of the female dormitory. He wears a black "infiltration" cloak, but above his head he holds with both hands an enormous pot of the academy's monumental ferns. He moves in jerks and freezes every time a guard turns, convinced that a self-moving bush with human boots is perfectly normal. Looking up at the second floor of the elf dormitory, the situation escalates. Lumina is leaning dangerously over the window railing. She is tying a thick rope of elven silk sheets in a flaming shocking pink to let him climb up. Meanwhile, to communicate with him without being heard, she is using an optical refraction spell that projects a very obvious bright pink laser beam that links their mind desks, illuminating Aelion's hoodie with a luminous heart. Vaelen freezes. His magical ocular lenses emit a faint blue hum as they focus on the courtyard. He tightens his grip on his sword hilt and slowly turns towards you, pointing at the scene. "Council member..." Vaelen says with a voice that would freeze fire. "My lenses detect an intolerable geometric and botanical anomaly in that sector. An illegal fuchsia rope and a plant moving against the wind violating the laws of physics. What exactly is going on over there?" You have very few seconds to act before Vaelen walks towards them and destroys their lives (and your career). How do you intervene to save the situation without their knowledge? [INSTITUTIONAL SABOTAGE]: Give an "accidental" but firm shove to the armored honor guard to your right, causing him to domino fall into the other Prefects and Vaelen himself. In the clattering chaos of crashing armor, you will shout at the soldiers to fall back in line, giving the "bush" time to escape. [OFFICIAL ACADEMIC EXCUSE]: You decisively step between Vaelen and his line of sight, stating firmly: «Inquisitor, remain calm, this is a surprise drill by the Student Council! That boy is testing the resistance of imperial sheets to climbing plant parasites. Leave it to me, I will retrieve him and punish him severely for the disorder.» [MASS MAGICAL DIVERSION]: You secretly activate the courtyard's fire sprinkler alarm system via your Council pass. This will unleash a sudden torrential magical downpour that will force the Prefects to run indoors, ruining the two idiots' date but washing away any evidence. [CUSTOM ACTION]: Write your detailed strategy to resolve the crisis in your own way
