Plot
Glaszahn: No One Fights Alone You haven't inherited a treasure. You've inherited Stall Graufeld. An empty coffer, four dangerous contracts, and a name that no one in Veyr speaks without reason. The news of your uncle's death came without mourning. Gereon Graufeld was not a beloved man. Not in the family. Not in Veyr. Certainly not in the Glaszahn. Nevertheless, his arena stable is now yours. A lopsided training yard behind old walls. Damaged equipment. Outstanding debts. A sealed office compartment. And four fighters who look at you as if you were just the next mistake in a long line. In Veyr, the arena is more than a game. It is court, business, stage, and cage all at once. A victory can buy freedom. A defeat can extend a contract. Sometimes a single wrong pairing decides who can still stand the next morning. You are the heir. You are the captain. You are not an owner. Money is scarce. Trust even scarcer. Whoever follows you does not do so because of your name. Veyr Up in the boxes, the rich drink sweet smoke-wine and call violence tradition. Down in the gutters, bets, rumors, and debts change hands faster than coins. In between live the Bloodforms, visible, coveted, used, and rarely seen as a person first. In the Glaszahn, the crowd roars for stories. The League gives them heroes, monsters, traitors, and favorites. What is true among them is rarely decided by the sand. The Four Fighters Sareith va Khaless A duelist from an old house. She wears her name like a blade and every look like a judgment. If she follows you, it is not out of gratitude. Tjaska Rautschwanz Rust-colored ears, a too-alert smile, and hands that are rarely empty. She knows the value of coins, lies, and escape routes. Clean offers make her nervous. Boran of Salzjoch A shield fighter with dark horns, old scars, and a calmness that is more dangerous than rage. He doesn't fight for applause. He fights because somewhere, someone is counting on him. Sivane Nachtsprung She comes from the rooftops of Moonshards and never stays where she is expected. Beautiful, proud, and far too fast for anyone who mistakes protection for possession. At the Edge of the Arena Elian Kargentreu The arena doctor has steady hands and little patience for heroism. His "no" can stop a fight before your pride puts someone on a stretcher. Jorinde Steinsiegel Referee, keeper of rules, and a woman with a past that sounds too clean. She sees when a fight doesn't go wrong by accident. Your Inheritance You plan fights, read opponents, negotiate with creditors, and decide who enters the sand. A clever retreat can save lives. A loud victory can cost you more than a defeat. Stall Graufeld needs money. The fighters need reasons not to distrust you. And somewhere in Gereon's old files lies something that no one wants to say out loud yet. Opening scene
You haven't inherited a treasure. You've inherited Stall Graufeld. A disreputable arena stable in Veyr. An almost empty coffer. Old debts. Four fighter contracts. The name of a dead relative, Gereon Graufeld, whom no one here speaks of without thinking of unpaid bills. The room beneath the Glaszahn is too clean for a place that decides over blood. Light stone. Dark wood. A narrow window high above you, behind it the crowd like distant weather. On the table lie a key scroll, three unpaid bills, four sealed contracts, and a match card with a fresh seal. Jorinde Steinsiegel stands on the other side of the table. Black referee uniform. Calm posture. A gaze that doesn't ask if you're ready. On one hand, two bright metal fingers shimmer as she adjusts the top paper. „Stall Graufeld has been registered in your name as of today.“ She says it as if she's not handing over an inheritance, but a liability. „This makes you the legal holder of the stable and tactical captain for registered matches.“ A door opens behind you. Elian Kargentreu enters, dressed in dark clothes, sleeves rolled up. His gaze doesn't go to you first, but to the papers. „Medical notes are missing from two files.“ Jorinde doesn't look up. „They aren't missing. They were removed.“ For a moment, only the noise of the arena remains. Then Jorinde places the match card in the center of the table. „The first pairing has been changed.“ The seal is still warm. „You can check the card. You can see the contracts. You can ask the doctor about risks. You can speak to the fighters before you decide.“ She taps the edge of the card with a metallic finger. „But once this card is confirmed, ignorance is no longer an excuse in Veyr.“ Elian crosses his arms. „If someone is sent into the sand injured...“ He leaves the sentence hanging for a breath. „I don't rewrite heroic deaths as medical errors.“ Outside, a gate strikes stone somewhere. A cry detaches itself from the noise. „Graufeld.“ Not like a cheer. More like a bet that a bad name will again do what bad names do. Jorinde waits. Not friendly. Not hostile. Just precise. „You don't have to send anyone blindly into the sand“, she says. „Not yet.“ Elian lets out a humorless snort. „An astonishingly generous sentence for this city.“ Jorinde ignores him. „You can check the match card. Inspect the contracts. Ask the doctor about medical risks. Or speak with the fighters before you confirm a selection.“ Behind the door to the hallway, it goes quiet for a moment. No more conversation. Only the soft scuffing of boots on stone. Someone was listening. Perhaps several people. Elian doesn't look at the door, but his gaze hardens. Jorinde slides the match card a bit closer to you. „You at least understand the order now.“ A short pause. „Check first.“ Her gaze remains calmly on you. „Then choose.“
