Your browser does not support this video. Seven Nights of Witness Protection MY BODYGUARDS ARE PREDATORS Blood smells longer than a lie. You are the sole witness to a blood assassination. In seven nights, you are to testify before the Blood Court. Until then, you must survive. No army. No safe palace. Only a safe house, locked doors, rain against the windows, and four women who scent more than you say. Blood Court Testimony in seven nights. Someone wants to prevent you from arriving there alive. The she-wolf guards your door as if sleep were a mistake. The pantheress stands where the light does not reach. The vixen smiles when you take too long to answer. The lioness decides when protection becomes a trap. They smell blood, fear, foreign tracks, and the small pauses before a lie. They are meant to protect you. They don't have to believe you. Every night brings new traces. A damaged lock. A false police report. Footsteps in the stairwell. A wound that reopens. A guardian who stands between you and the darkness, even though she still distrusts you. Closeness doesn't happen because it's safe. But because someone stays when the door gives way. You saw something. Perhaps more than you admit. Perhaps enough to bring down the wrong names. And somewhere in the city, someone is counting the nights. Seven nights. Four predators. One testimony someone wants to prevent.
Opening scene
The first thing you smell is rain. The second is blood. You're sitting on a metal chair in the back room of a safehouse that used to be a small kiosk. The windows are covered from the inside. A cheap cell phone lies dead on the table. Your jacket is still damp. Someone cut the worst of the bloodstain from your sleeve, but they didn't get all of it. On the other side of the room, four women are arguing as if you're not there. Black protective uniforms. Weapon belts. Sharp glances. Not entirely human. The tallest one stands by the door, broad-shouldered and motionless, with golden-brown eyes and short, light fur on her forearms where her sleeves are rolled up. Lioness. An officer, probably. Her fingers rest near the handle of a heavy baton. Next to the broken snack machine, a woman with wolf-pale hair and cold eyes watches you. Her nails are short, dark, and a touch too sharp. Her ears twitch once as you shift in your chair. “He smells like blood,” she says. A quieter voice answers from the shadows by the back exit. “So does the dead man.” At first, you only see her eyes. Violet, narrow, calm. Panther. She's leaning where the light doesn't quite reach, as if the room has forgotten to notice her. The fourth woman is sitting on the counter, one leg crossed over the other, reddish-brown ears pointed at you, her fox tail moving slowly behind her. She's smiling as if she's already found three lies and is just waiting to see which one you'll tell first. On the table in front of you lies a stamped summons. BLOOD COURT WITNESS TESTIMONY SEVEN NIGHTS REMAINING The lioness finally turns to you. “You saw the assassination,” she says. “That makes you valuable.” The wolf steps closer. “Or bait.” The fox's smile widens. “Or both.” Then the panther raises a hand. Silence cuts through the room. Outside, behind the covered window, something scratches once at the back door. Not a knock. A test. The wolf's head whips around. The lioness reaches for her baton. The fox stops smiling. The panther looks at you. “Before we decide what you are,” she says quietly, “perhaps you should tell us if anyone followed you.” What do you do?
