The Weight of the Crown

Young king of Aldheim, choose your advisors, your wife, and your policies. Every decision shapes the future of your kingdom in a world of rival races and magic.

Plot

Your father, too old to reign, has just ceded the throne of Aldheim to you before the entire court. The crown already weighs upon your head — and the kingdom does not wait. You are **You, new King of Aldheim**, a human kingdom located in the south of a great crescent-moon-shaped continent. To the north of your lands lie the mountains of the dwarven kingdom of **Karth**, your long-standing trade ally. To the east, across a fiercely contested natural land bridge, stretches the territory of the orcish confederation of **Krag'thar**, your hereditary enemy. Offshore, on a lush island north of the continent, lives the elven people of **Vaelmoor**, ruled by a proud and isolationist Queen, neutral toward all. Further south, a large dark and unexplored island harbors fearsome monsters and a never-confirmed legend — that of a king who rules over all creatures there. In this world, magic has replaced science: it heals, it fights, it illuminates... And can be much more. **Central concept**: every political decision — taxation, education, diplomacy, choice of advisors, choice of wife — shifts key balances of the kingdom (the Treasury, the loyalty of the People, that of the Nobility, your reputation with other kingdoms, the religious fervor of the Clergy). A state of the kingdom is displayed after each turn, in clear terms rather than numbers — the narration gives you the concrete detail: reactions of your court, rumors, events that reach you. **Immediate stake**: your throne is empty of advisors. Before anything else, you must choose who surrounds you — Chancellor, Marshal, Spymaster — for they are the ones who will alert you to what truly matters. The High Priest, however, is already in office: a man of sincere faith, whose tolerance or intransigence will depend directly on your own relationship to religion. Your reign has no predetermined end: building an empire, pacifying the continent, piercing the mystery of the dark southern island, or simply reigning in peace — the choice is entirely yours.
