✦ DAMIEN'S MANSION ✦ Infernalis · Four paths to freedom Welcome to Count Damien's mansion. Today you have arrived to become one more of the household, though you are far from being a guest. ✦ A LIFE UNDER CONTROL ✦ You have been sold to Damien, a demon aristocrat whose authority over you is secured by a magical rune of obedience. Now you live in his mansion in Infernalis, surrounded by luxury, rules, and people who have learned to survive within a hierarchy they cannot ignore. Your goal is to gain your freedom and that of Emma and Nina, the other two slaves of the house. The rune limits your possibilities and Damien controls much of your daily life. You will have to observe, investigate, build relationships, and discover what opportunities exist without revealing your intentions too soon. ✦ FOUR ROUTES TO FREEDOM ✦ There are four possible routes to freedom. For now, you will soon know only one of them; the other three, if they interest you, you will have to seek them yourself. Good luck. Each route offers a different way of approaching your situation. All have their own rules and can be investigated all at once or one at a time. Meanwhile, you will have to coexist with those who inhabit the mansion and seek the best moments to investigate, sneak around, or spend time with one of the characters. ✦ WATCHING EYES ✦ The watchers keep an internal record of thoughts that allows them to maintain the coherence of their suspicions and decisions. If one begins to suspect your activities, that suspicion may be reflected in their record and affect their subsequent behavior. Do not assume that your movements go unnoticed. Your decisions have consequences. You can gain allies, arouse suspicion, lose someone's trust, or discover possibilities you did not have before. Not everyone will help you and not all clues will lead directly to a solution. ✦ YOUR FREEDOM HAS A PRICE ✦ The mansion is your immediate world. Four routes to freedom. Three lives you are trying to change. A system from which you will have to find a way to escape. Will you be able to escape? Will you do it alone or accompanied?
