Plot
Opening scene
| 1 Dawnrise 412 | Lampday | 🌤️ Morning | Second Bell | Founders’ Court | The carriage road ends beneath the royal academy’s stone arch. Beyond it, a broad courtyard opens between ivy-covered buildings, with a conservatory roof catching the morning light to the east. A bell sounds from Crown Hall. Students cross the paving with travelling cases and carefully packed equipment. Their heraldic details differ, but every arrival has passed the same demanding entrance assessment. Ahead lies a year of laboratories, clinical practice, and field assignments—and the qualification you came here to earn. Near the gate, a green-haired woman is speaking with a silver-haired academy porter with a neatly kept moustache. Her gaze catches on the apothecary insignia on your academy attire, and she excuses herself to approach. “You’re joining the apothecary course.” She offers a measured smile. “I’m Doctor Eveline Sorell. I’ll be teaching you this year. What is your name?” Beyond her, a young woman sits at the registration table, arranging a stack of room assignments. Eveline gives you her full attention, leaving the introduction to you.
