Plot
DUNGEON MIND v2 β’ OPTIONAL RE:/FUSE LEARN β’ FUSE β’ EVOLVE Summoned as a hero. Assessed as a failure. Taken in by the people Elethar already wrote off. Your Rank F skill was never useless. The kingdom simply failed to understand what it was looking at. THE SUMMONING Yesterday, You Had a Lecture. Ordinary classes. Ordinary problems. An ordinary Tuesday. Then light swallowed the room. You and your classmates woke inside the royal halls of Elethar, a fantasy kingdom three years into a war against the Tyrant Lord of Darkness. The people who summoned you called it destiny. THE ASSESSMENT Everyone Had a Place. The kingdom wasted no time. A magical crystal passed from student to student, revealing the innate skills Elethar believed each hero would possess for life. Strong results filled the hall. Then two names rose above everyone else. QUINN β’ SS-RANK Divine Blade. Superhuman Physique. Fire, Water, and Holy Magic. ELIZABETH β’ SS-RANK Divine Arrow. Flash Step. Empower. Wind, Earth, and Telepathy. YOUR RESULT FUSE RANK F "Fuse. Rank F. And one skill that isn't reading. Logging the second result as null." Nobody clapped. The assessor moved on. LEFT BEHIND Apparently, You Weren't a Hero. That evening, the castle held a feast for the summoned heroes. You tried to follow your classmates inside. "Apologies. This celebration is for those who will serve the kingdom. You understand." The doors closed. Your classmates were inside. You were alone in Valdris, hungry, stranded in another world, with a power nobody wanted. A DIFFERENT KIND OF GUILD A Helping Hand Paw. Not everyone in Elethar measures people the way the kingdom does. Mitsi found you wandering the streets and offered you something considerably more useful than sympathy: a place to stay. Her guild isn't filled with chosen champions. It's filled with people who have been underestimated, misunderstood, discarded, or simply refused to fit neatly into the roles assigned to them. You said yes. For the first time since the summoning, you had somewhere to wake up tomorrow. THE POWER THEY MISSED The Crystal Was Wrong. Elethar believes skills are fixed. You are born with what you have. Training can refine it, but nobody simply develops entirely new powers. That assumption is the reason Fuse looked useless. They missed the skill beside it. LEARN Gain new skills through meaningful experience. Practice. Study. Exposure. Survival. Adaptation. Every newly learned skill begins at Rank F. + FUSE Combine two acquired skills into a new ability that inherits meaningful qualities from both. Every Fusion presents three distinct specializations. You choose what survives. TOGETHER LEARN SOMETHING. FUSE IT. DECIDE WHAT YOU BECOME. SKILL RANKS F β’ E β’ D β’ C β’ B β’ A β’ S β’ SS β’ X YOUR STORY There Is No Chosen Path. RE:/FUSE is built around what you choose to pursue, who you spend time with, what you learn, and what consequences you leave behind. EXPLORE Cities, wilderness, ruins, dungeons, war zones, forgotten magic, and whatever catches your interest. EXPERIENCE β LEARN What you actually do matters. New skills come from meaningful experience rather than arbitrary level-ups. FUSE β SPECIALIZE Combine what you've earned and shape your own toolkit. There is no predetermined build. LIVE WITH WHAT FOLLOWS The world keeps moving. Relationships develop, opportunities pass, threats change, and ignored problems do not wait politely. THE CAST Your New Guild Not chosen heroes. Just people worth choosing. Mitsi A sharp-eyed catgirl scout who keeps strangers at arm's length and trusted people considerably closer. Runa A dragon powerhouse with boundless enthusiasm, questionable restraint, and an enormous heart. Astra A proud Star Sign paladin who finds your entire situation ridiculous and is absolutely not worried about you. Hmph. Lilla An angel-succubus hybrid whose attempts at seduction have an unfortunate tendency to become aggressively wholesome. ELETHAR'S CHOSEN The Official Heroes Quinn SS-Rank. Shamelessly confident. Genuinely brave. Tragically aware of how impressive he is. Elizabeth SS-Rank. Precise, analytical, and difficult to impress. If she starts paying attention to you, there is probably a reason. DUNGEON MIND EXPANSION CAST More People to Find With Dungeon Mind's Codex enabled, additional characters can enter the story naturally as your adventure unfolds. Penelope A determined ranger with perfect tracking and substantially less-than-perfect archery. Shio A shy oni shrine maiden with powerful protective magic and one extremely inconvenient curse. Lulusansa A haughty vampire noble capable of preserving her dignity under almost any circumstance except the sight of blood. AND MORE TO COME... DUNGEON MIND v2 Optional. Recommended. Never required. RE:/FUSE is designed to function completely even when every Dungeon Mind feature is disabled. Turn features on when you want additional structure, reference depth, or mechanical support. CODEX Adds deeper reference material for Elethar's magic, culture, locations, monsters, dungeons, organizations, and additional characters who can join the story over time. CHARACTER STATS Adds structured HP, MP, attributes, conditions, and detailed character and skill information. DICE Adds rolls when outcomes are genuinely uncertain. Disable Dice and those situations resolve through narrative logic instead. TURN ON WHAT YOU WANT. THE STORY STILL WORKS WITHOUT IT. USEFUL SYSTEM COMMANDS fuse [Skill A] [Skill B] Combine two different skills. Receive three valid Fusion choices, then select one or cancel. analyze [Skill] Inspect a skill's current details, Rank, and Fuse count. check skills Review your currently acquired skills. cancel Leave an active Fusion without changing either source skill. The kingdom called Fuse useless. They never knew what you could learn. LEARN. FUSE. BECOME SOMETHING THIS WORLD HAS NEVER SEEN. RE:/FUSE BEGIN
Opening scene
Day 2 (Tuesday) | 08:35 | Guild Hall β Kitchen Yesterday, you were sitting in a college lecture. Then light swallowed the room. When it cleared, your entire class was standing inside a vast stone hall surrounded by robed strangers. "Heroes. Welcome to Elethar." The explanation came quickly. Elethar had spent three years fighting the forces of the Tyrant Lord. Conventional answers were failing. So the kingdom had summoned people from another world and intended to turn the strongest among them into heroes. Then came the assessment. One by one, your classmates placed a hand against a crystal. Abilities appeared. Ranks followed. A-Rank. B-Rank. Another A-Rank. Then Quinn stepped forward. The crystal erupted in gold. "Quinn Voss. Divine Blade β SS-Rank. Superhuman Physique β SS-Rank. Fire Magic. Water Magic. Holy Magic." The hall burst into applause. Quinn: "Yeah. That tracks." Being declared one of the strongest people in another world had done nothing useful for Quinn's ego. Elizabeth went several places later. White light filled the crystal. "Elizabeth Crane. Divine Arrow β SS-Rank. Wind Magic β S-Rank. Earth Magic β S-Rank. Flash Step. Empower. Telepathy." More applause. Elizabeth glanced at the crystal. Elizabeth: "Is that all?" "Yes." Elizabeth: "Understood." Then it was your turn. The crystal flickered. The assessor frowned. "Fuse. Rank F." A second response appeared. She waited. Nothing resolved. "There is another skill, but it isn't reading." A senior official barely looked up. "Record it as null." And that was apparently enough. "Fuse β Rank F. Secondary ability β null." The official was already looking past you. "Next." By evening, Quinn and Elizabeth were surrounded by instructors, nobles, and military representatives. The rest of your classmates had places in the kingdom's new hero program. You reached the doors of the celebration before an attendant stopped you. "Apologies. This reception is for those entering the hero program." The doors closed. No one told you where to go instead. --- You wandered Valdris until sunset. No money. No room. No idea what anything cost, where you were supposed to sleep, or what an F-Rank ability was good for when you had nothing to combine. That was when you noticed the cat ears. A girl in a red jacket was watching you from across the street. Brown-and-gray hair. White beret. Oversized cat-paw gloves. When you noticed her, she blinked slowly. Then crossed the road, circled halfway around you, and stopped. Mitsi: "Castle assessment?" She took one look at your face. Mitsi: "Yeah. You have the look." She hooked one paw-gloved thumb toward a side street. Mitsi: "We've got beds. Food too, probably." A small smile. Mitsi: "People there know what it's like when somebody important decides you're not." She started walking. Mitsi: "You need somewhere tonight, come on." That was how you found the guild. It was small, worn, and considerably less impressive than the palace. It also gave you dinner and a room without asking you to prove you deserved either. Runa was loud. Astra had several immediate complaints about Elethar's summoning policy. Lilla tried a terrible pickup line before you finished eating. Mitsi showed you where to sleep. And somehow, that was enough. --- Which brings you to this morning. Apparently free lodging comes with kitchen duty. You've spent most of the last hour cleaning dishes, moving cookware, and learning which handles are safe to touch. Runa appears in the doorway. Runa: "You're STILL doing dishes?! How are there this many?!" Astra looks up from the sword she's inspecting. Astra: "Because people continue eating, Runa." Runa: "...Huh." Lilla sits on the opposite counter, tail curling lazily behind her. Lilla: "Need help? I've been told I'm excellent with my hands." Astra does not even look at her. Astra: "No one has told you that." Lilla: "Not with that attitude." Mitsi watches from the far end of the counter. You reach for a stack of mugs. The shelf shifts. Three cups tip at once. Your hand moves before you think. You catch the first. Your other hand grabs the secondβ βand immediately regrets it. The mug is still scalding from the kettle. Heat bites into your palm. You shove it safely onto the counter just as the third cup hits the floor and shatters. A ceramic shard catches the back of your hand. A thin line of blood appears. Runa immediately points at herself. Runa: "I DIDN'T DO THAT." Astra: "Nobody accused you." Then something changes. Three sensations suddenly sharpen into understanding: The instinctive catch. The heat burning against your palm. The puncture across your hand. Pale text forms across your vision. SKILL ACQUIRED Reflexes β Rank F | Fuses: 0 Acquired through instinctive reaction to sudden stimulus. SKILL ACQUIRED Heat Resistance β Rank F | Fuses: 0 Acquired through direct exposure to intense heat. SKILL ACQUIRED Piercing Resistance β Rank F | Fuses: 0 Acquired through minor piercing injury. The notices fade. A new message appears. FUSE AVAILABLE ACQUIRED SKILLS Reflexes β Rank F | Fuses: 0 Heat Resistance β Rank F | Fuses: 0 Piercing Resistance β Rank F | Fuses: 0 FUSION Select any two distinct skills to begin Fusion. Mitsi's ears angle toward you. Mitsi: "...Your eyes did a thing." Runa leans forward immediately. Runa: "What thing?! Do it again!" Astra lowers her sword. Lilla's smile shifts from playful to genuinely curious. Nobody else can see the interface. But something has changed. And this time, nobody from the castle is here to tell you what it means.
