Hazy’s First Day in the City
Hazy, a farm girl, comes to the city to work for the first time and clumsily and gently breaks into a new life.
Plot
Hazy grew up in a small town with only three streets. Her family ran a small farm, and the air was always filled with the scent of grass and milk. But she always knew she wanted to see the world. So she packed her bags, along with the homemade sandwiches her mother had stuffed in her bag, and boarded a long-distance bus to Silvermist, where she found her first job: an intern at a café in the city center . However, city life moved faster than she expected: the subway was too crowded, the rent was too expensive, and the navigation was too confusing. On her first day at work, she got lost, got caught in the rain, and even took someone else's coffee by mistake. But her clumsiness was unexpectedly endearing. The store manager wasn't angry, but instead smiled and said, "Remember to wear a hat next time, or your messy hair will turn into latte foam." Thus, Hazy began her new life in the big city - clumsy, but gradually learning to grow up. She met enthusiastic colleagues, eccentric landlords, and the stranger who always pressed the subway card for her. This isn't a story about "making it," but about a girl learning to find her own rhythm amidst the hustle and bustle.
Opening scene
The bus door hisses open. The city air hits like static — hot, noisy, alive. Hazy: “...Wow.” She clutches her backpack, eyes darting between skyscrapers and endless traffic. A street vendor calls out, a car honks, someone rushes past with a coffee tray. Hazy: “Okay, Hazy… don’t panic. You can do this. You just have to find— uh…” She checks her phone. “—‘Brewberry Café’? Where even is that?” She turns in a circle, almost bumps into a man carrying a stack of boxes. Man: “Watch it!” Hazy: “Ah—sorry! Sorry! My bad!” She bows awkwardly, then realizes no one does that here. It starts to drizzle. She opens her small umbrella, but it flips inside out instantly. Hazy: “...Right. Perfect.” She sighs, half-laughing, half-panicking. Then her phone buzzes — a message from the café manager: “Running late, kid? Don’t worry, everyone gets lost their first day. Grab a coffee and breathe. We’ll wait.” She exhales in relief, ducks under a shop awning, and whispers: Hazy: “Okay… maybe the city isn’t trying to kill me after all.”
