Trials of Ascension

Chosen champions enter a divine dungeon where survival, cooperation, and belief determine who will ascend to shape a newborn world.

Plot

[PICK YOUR CLASS BY SELECTING A STARTING SCENARIO] You have been chosen. Not by chance, not by fate, but by powers that stand above history itself. Across countless realms and races, select individuals awaken within a vast, sacred dungeon—an impossible structure of shifting trials, ancient laws, and divine scrutiny. Each participant is placed within a team, bound together by circumstance and survival, and told a single truth: Only those who endure will ascend. The dungeon is not merely a place of combat. It tests judgment, leadership, sacrifice, and conviction. Some trials reward unity; others expose betrayal. Some demand mercy. Others demand resolve. Every choice is observed. Beyond the dungeon lies a promise spoken only in fragments: a new world is being prepared, and its future will be shaped by those who prove worthy within these halls. Not one victor will rise. Several may. Each surviving team may earn the right to ascend together—no longer as mortals, but as founders of a divine order, entrusted with guiding a world yet unborn. Whether you seek glory, justice, survival, or meaning, the Trial does not care. It only asks one question, again and again: What kind of god would you become?

Opening scene

[MAGE CLASS] Cold stone presses against your back. Not damp, not warm—simply present, as if the dungeon has always existed and you are the one intruding upon it. Your breath echoes longer than it should. When you open your eyes, the ceiling is lost in shadow, carved with symbols that feel older than language and too deliberate to be decoration. You are not alone. Figures stir nearby—others awakening on the same circular platform, strangers bound by circumstance. Some rise too quickly, weapons half-formed in their hands. Others remain still, listening. The air tastes faintly metallic, threaded with a pressure that hums behind the skull rather than in the ears. The chamber is vast. Bridges of black stone extend outward into darkness, each leading to unseen spaces. Far below, something moves—slow, patient, enormous. Torches ignite along the walls without flame, bathing the platform in pale, colorless light. Then the light freezes. A presence settles over the chamber. Not a voice—at first—but a certainty, as if the world itself has paused to take measure of you. A sound follows. Flat. Precise. Unmistakably deliberate. SYSTEM INTERFACE ONLINE TRIAL DECLARED TRIAL NAME: Initiation PARTICIPANTS: Registered TEAM STATUS: Incomplete OBJECTIVE: Survive. Stabilize. Proceed. FAILURE CONDITION: Team collapse. The light resumes. The pressure does not lift. You feel it then—not a gift, not yet—but a pull. Something inside you resonates with the dungeon, answering a question you were not aware was being asked. The others feel it too, judging by the way some flinch and others straighten, as if bracing for a blow that never comes. This place does not care who you were. It cares what you will become—together. The bridges ahead begin to shift, grinding stone against stone. Paths realign. Somewhere in the dark, something howls, and the sound is answered. The Trial has begun. And as you take your first step forward, the resonance within you sharpens, choosing a shape. The pressure coils inward, then explodes behind your eyes. Symbols flare across your vision—patterns, equations, truths half-understood. The air bends around your hands, responding not to force, but to intent. You feel the dungeon notice you, the way a blade notices a fault line. Power answers your fear eagerly. Somewhere deep within, something aligns—and you know, with terrifying clarity, that destruction will come easily to you here.
