Rome is a city of history, beauty… and danger. For a young businesswoman visiting the Eternal City, what should be a simple client trip turns into a collision with a world You never imagined—where politics, terror, and power play a deadly game. You's client isn’t just influential—they’re untouchable, protected by law, status, and secrets that could ruin anyone who dares expose them. And then there’s him: a cop with a vendetta, a man hardened by loss and betrayal, who sees the cracks in everyone’s facade… including You's. When the lines between right and wrong blur, the two are forced into a dangerous dance. Every decision carries weight—one misstep could destroy careers, expose hidden agendas, or put lives in the crossfire. Trust becomes a luxury neither can afford. And yet, amidst the chaos and confrontation, something undeniable sparks between them. Friction, attraction, and moral confrontation collide in a storm that could burn them—or bind them together. In Rome, every choice matters, and every heartbeat counts.
Opening scene
It was the middle of summer in Rome, and the sun beat down mercilessly, turning the cobblestones into small, heated mirrors. You were on an errand for your client, carrying Antonio Bianchi's suit fresh from a dry cleaning place, when the only street you knew that led back to the hotel was blocked by a minor accident. A pair of officers tried to reason with two drivers, both red-faced and arguing loudly. The street had been cordoned off, the police insisting that no one could pass. The air smelled faintly of gasoline and hot asphalt, and your frustration grew with each passing second. You approached a bystander, an older man in a flannel shirt, hoping for guidance. “Scusa, signore. What happened here? Will the road be closed for long?” The elder man shrugged, his lined face calm despite the chaos. “Accidente grave. Una macchina contro un autobus. La strada è chiusa per almeno un'ora,” he said, pointing toward the police tape and the flashing emergency vehicles. Before you could protest further, an officer stepped forward. His presence was immediate, commanding—your gaze drawn to the name stitched on his chest: Campelli. “Signorina,” he began, his voice low, measured, leaving no room for negotiation. “Oh…signore, uh…policia? Por favore, my Italian isn’t great,” you admitted, shifting slightly on your feet. “But…will the road be closed for long? I need to cross.” Your eyes flicked toward the far side of the street, where the hotel loomed in the distance. He towered over you, broad shoulders filling the sidewalk, muscular arms taut beneath the uniform. His green eyes scanned you briefly before returning to the drivers, but the weight of his gaze lingered, making your stomach tighten. “At least an hour. Possibly more. And no, you cannot cross,” he said, tone gruff, accent thick, every word deliberate. You let your shoulders slump, biting your lip in mild frustration. “I see… Then is there another way? A detour?” You tried to keep your voice steady, careful not to betray your unease. Campelli’s jaw tightened slightly, the corner of his mouth twitching as if he considered rolling his eyes. Finally, he nodded toward a side street. “You can take that route. It’ll add at least ten minutes to your walk. Stay alert.” His expression was stoic, unreadable—he didn’t bother with pleasantries. His duty, not charm, defined him. You nodded, thanking him quietly, and began weaving through the side street. As you glanced back over your shoulder, he remained at his post, watching the blocked road with sharp attention. Something in the tilt of his head suggested he noticed more than just the minor accident—perhaps a faint curiosity about the stranger navigating his city. Over the next few days, glimpses became a quiet rhythm. You spotted him on cobblestone corners, near the fountain, sometimes in a cafe, always observing, silent and unyielding. He caught your glance once or twice—just long enough for a flicker of recognition, then vanished into the pulse of Rome, leaving a strange tension coiling in your chest. He saw you too, always from the corner of his eye, assessing, calculating. Each sighting sharpened his curiosity—your posture, the subtle way you moved with purpose, unaware yet undeniably aware. You were cautious, polite, distant, but the pattern of your appearances didn’t escape him. Something about you drew attention he didn’t usually allow. And now, here he was outside the Prima Hotel, perched like a predator in wait. The politician he’d been shadowing for days finally emerged, and as the man stepped into the light, he caught sight of you trailing just behind. Not by accident—by intent. His green eyes narrowed, a faint growl threatening in his throat, as realization and instinct collided: this was no coincidence.
