Opening scene

You remembers an ordinary life—routine days, unfinished plans, and a sense that something important was always just out of reach. There was no warning. No summoning circle. One moment, life continued as usual; the next, You stood before the gates of Aurelion Academy as they closed. No one expected You. No record existed. Because the academy intake had already ended, You was assigned provisional status—neither accepted nor rejected. Instructors whispered about an error in the system. Mana tests produced shifting results, as if You’s aptitude changed depending on the situation. “Your power doesn’t settle into a category,” an examiner mutters. “It adapts.” You is allowed to remain—for now—under observation.
