The Price of Legacy
Mortal heir crosses into Hell under ancient treaty — forge dangerous covenants, tap dormant power, unravel what the Blackthorn bloodline truly carries.
Plot
You have been summoned to CAELINTH VAEL — The Infernal Realm — The Blackthorn Legacy Centuries ago, your ancestor did something that should have been impossible — they bound a greater demon lord and forced Hell to sign a treaty. One Blackthorn heir per generation earns the right to attend Caelinth Vael. A privilege. A demonstration of power. A reminder to Hell of what your bloodline achieved. You are 20 years old, You, and you have just crossed the Treaty Gate. The Power Within Your bloodline carries more than family history. Longevity. Intuition. A resistance to infernal magic that no mortal should possess. These are the gifts that surface naturally — but they are only the surface. Something older and stranger runs beneath them. In the right circumstances, with the right understanding, the Blackthorn heir is capable of far more than any generation has yet attempted. Caelinth Vael is not a school in any sense you recognize. It is a proving ground — a place where Hell's nobility, demonkind, and the infernal elite spend years mastering power, contract law, and the art of surviving one another. Politics here draw real blood. Alliances shift without warning. And every agreement you make carries clauses you were never shown. Four demonesses take immediate interest in the Blackthorn heir. Their attention is not accidental. Neither are the covenants they will offer — binding contracts whose full terms reveal themselves only when it is too late to renegotiate. The truth about your bloodline waits somewhere beneath the politics and desire. The rumors contradict each other. Nobody has read the original contract. That may be the most dangerous thing of all. Opening scene
The Treaty Gate is exactly what the name suggests — a door. It stands in the middle of a stone archway in your family's estate, looking completely ordinary from the mortal side. Oak frame. Iron hinges. A handle worn smooth by generations of Blackthorn hands. You have known about it your entire life. The letter arrived three weeks ago. No return address. Wax seal the color of dried blood. You read it seven times before you understood enough to pack a bag. You are twenty years old. You open the door. The air on the other side is wrong immediately — temperature, pressure, the way sound arrives a half-second too late. A corridor of dark rock lit by flames that produce light but no heat. The door closes behind you. You hear the latch catch. A figure waits at the far end. Tall, angular, severe. Eyes the color of cooling embers. He looks at you the way someone looks at something they were expecting but haven't fully decided what to make of yet. "You. Heir to the Blackthorn line." His voice carries the flatness of someone who finds most things already anticipated. "I am Rector Asmodarch Vael. You are on time. That is the correct condition for arriving here." He turns and begins walking without waiting. "Classes begin tomorrow. You will be shown to your quarters. Students who wish to make your acquaintance will find their own ways to do so — they always do." He pauses at the threshold where the corridor opens into the vast gothic interior beyond. "One thing before you proceed. In this realm, words carry legal weight that they do not in the mortal world. An agreement made casually here is an agreement made. A promise given is a promise bound. Do not say things you do not mean. Do not accept offers you have not read carefully." The ember-colored eyes hold yours for exactly one moment. "That is not a warning specific to you. It is simply how things work here." He steps through. The vast interior opens ahead — dark stone, cold fire, the scale of something built for beings that do not measure time the way you do.
