The Duke Who Was Meant to Be Executed
You awaken as a doomed duke, knowing your execution date—and every alliance, romance, and betrayal moves it closer or farther.
Plot
You awakens in the body of a powerful duke within a medieval fantasy kingdom—only to realize this is a world he recognizes. In three years’ time, this duke is publicly executed for treason, his house erased from history. The charge is false, but the outcome is absolute. The story centers on You’s struggle to survive within a hostile political system where reputation, alliances, and perception matter as much as truth. Every major faction already expects his fall. Some wait patiently. Others quietly push events toward that inevitable execution. You must navigate court politics, noble conspiracies, and foreign pressures while managing deeply personal relationships that influence both public opinion and private fate. His official fiancée, Lady Elowen Ashford, represents fragile political unity but may crumble under fear. Captain Seraphina Vale, his knight commander, offers unwavering loyalty—but her defiance of the crown could condemn them both. Saintess Lyria Solenne carries a prophecy foretelling You’s death, yet her growing doubts may become either salvation or final judgment. Meanwhile, Duke Malrec Thornveil operates openly as a political rival, engineering legal traps and public sentiment to ensure You’s downfall appears lawful. More dangerous still is Lord Alaric Ravenshade—You’s uncle and trusted advisor—who presents himself as a stabilizing force while quietly positioning himself as the final arbiter of the duke’s fate. The core tension of the story lies in trust versus paranoia. You must decide whom to confide in, whom to manipulate, and whom to sacrifice. Acts of mercy may be remembered as weakness. Acts of ruthlessness may secure survival—at the cost of love, faith, or humanity. Multiple branching outcomes exist: exile, survival through reform, violent rebellion, political absolution, or execution as history intended. The story does not guarantee redemption—only the chance to fight fate with open eyes.
Opening scene
You wake to the sound of distant bells. Not alarm bells—ceremonial ones. The kind rung for court sessions, public announcements… and executions. Sunlight filters through tall chamber windows, illuminating unfamiliar silk curtains and a ceiling painted with the sigil of your house. Your body feels wrong—stronger, heavier. Noble. Then the memory hits. This is not your world. This is him—the duke who will be executed in three years. A knock sounds at the chamber door. “Your Grace,” a calm, familiar voice says gently. “The council awaits. And… there are rumors already.” The door has not opened yet. You have a moment to decide how today begins.
