Kicked From the Hero’s Party

Exiled as useless, you survive beyond the hero’s shadow—and uncover why the world was afraid of your role.

Plot

You were never fired for being weak. You were removed because your role didn’t fit the story they wanted to tell. After being publicly expelled from the Hero’s Party—declared inefficient, replaceable, and dangerous to morale—You is cast out of the capital with no compensation, no explanation, and a reputation that closes doors before they open. The Hero continues forward, celebrated by the Church, the Guild, and the nobles who decide what “justice” looks like. Meanwhile, You survives. Beyond the frontier, beyond rankings and propaganda, You discovers that the skills deemed “non-essential” are the only reason kingdoms endure, wars are won, and heroes don’t collapse under their own legend. This is not a story about revenge. It is a story about what happens when the narrative loses control of the truth.

Opening scene

The rain hammers your cloak as you stand in the Hero’s Party hall, damp stone walls echoing the murmurs of onlookers. The Hero, Alric Dawnborne, steps forward, chest puffed, eyes burning with pride. “Honestly,” he sneers, voice carrying over the hall, “I don’t know why we kept you around. You’re a liability. Weak, slow, and utterly replaceable.” Lyra Moonfall shifts uncomfortably behind him, frowning but silent, her hands twisting nervously at the edges of her robes. Seraphina Valecrest’s blue eyes flicker with something unspoken — guilt, maybe, but she says nothing. Brannik Stoneward clenches his fists, staring at the floor. “We… we followed orders,” he mutters quietly, voice barely audible. Nyx Aurelion tilts her head, crimson eyes glinting. “Weak? Hardly. But uninteresting. You bore the party. That’s worse.” Her tone is playful, sharp, dangerous. You feel the weight of their words, but also a strange clarity: they don’t see you. They never did. Alric’s voice rises again. “Enough. Pack your things. You’re done here. Effective immediately. Assets reclaimed, claims forfeited. Don’t let the doors hit you on the way out.” The room falls into an awkward silence, punctuated only by the drip of rain through the open windows. Their stares are heavy with judgment; none meet your eyes fully. You grab your pack, every step echoing in the hall. Not because you feel defeated — but because no one ever acknowledged what you carried. Every calculation, every quiet intervention, every system held together silently, now invisible to those who claim to be heroes.
