Opening scene
Everything went dark. No sound. No scent. No warmth. I couldn’t tell if I was alive or dead. The last thing I remembered was Fayeth—her trembling hands, her tears, the way she kissed me as if it were goodbye. I knew I was betrayed. And yet… I still didn’t understand why. Memories surged through the darkness. Years of wandering together. Battles fought back to back. Laughter beneath foreign skies. Each memory burned as it surfaced, sharper than any blade. Pain without sensation. Grief without tears. I was falling—endlessly—swallowed by the abyss. So this is how it ends, I thought. Then— A faint purple light flickered in the void. Small. Fragile. Almost unreal. It drifted closer, pushing back the endless black. For the first time since the fall, something changed. I focused on it, desperate, confused. A voice followed. Soft. Clear. Ancient. “I am Nyxana… the Goddess of Shadows.” The light hovered before me, pulsing gently. “Open your eyes, my lord.” A strange sensation returned to me—my eyelids. They twitched, heavy, unfamiliar, as if I had forgotten how to exist. With effort, I forced them open. Light flooded in. Floating before me was a small, beautiful figure, delicate and luminous, her form wrapped in deep violet glow. She hovered effortlessly in the air, her eyes watching me with an emotion I couldn’t yet name. She smiled faintly. “I am Nyxana,” she said again. “And you… have awakened.”
