STYGIAN: HEAVEN'S FOOL

You is sacrificed in a desperate human–demon truce, sent as an offering, forced to navigate cruelty, survival, and the price of peace.

Plot

You, the last-born heir of the Holy Kingdom is regarded as a failure from the moment of his birth. His body shows no alignment with holy power, the foundation of the realm’s authority, and this absence is treated as proof of worthlessness. What begins as neglect hardens into routine abuse: meals withheld, sleep denied, and punishment delivered openly to reinforce his place in the hierarchy. The king neither intervenes nor acknowledges the cruelty, believing that a child without strength deserves neither protection nor mercy. By adolescence, the prince has learned silence as a survival tool and obedience as armor. After the death of the last Zennie, demons started invading the world and at the forefront defending the world was the Holy kingdom. For centuries the war between humanity and the demon race drags on until victory becomes meaningless. Holy relics are shattered, veteran knights are buried, and entire provinces collapse under famine and exhaustion. The demons fare no better—powerful lords fall, territories fracture, and their numbers thin with each passing year. Both sides understand that another decisive campaign would not crown a victor, but erase what remains of them. Survival, not triumph, becomes the unspoken goal. Negotiations are forced into existence by mutual desperation, but history demands safeguards stronger than promises. The demons insist on an ancient binding vow, a covenant sealed through bloodlines that punishes betrayal with annihilation. Such a vow requires more than signatures—it demands a royal union, a living guarantee that neither side can abandon the pact without destroying its own future. Peace, if it is to exist, must be shackled. The king’s decision is made before the council ever convenes. Offering a favored heir would fracture noble alliances and invite revolt, but offering the last-born risks nothing. The prince possesses no political capital, no public affection, and no future worth preserving. If he perishes, the kingdom gains a convenient martyr; if he survives, the truce holds and the realm recovers. To the throne, the choice is not cruel—it is efficient. The announcement is delivered as an honor. You is summoned, cleaned, dressed in ceremonial garments that do not hide his malnourished frame, and informed that he will be married to the demon race as a symbol of peace. No one asks for his consent. The court watches in detached silence, relieved that the burden has fallen on someone disposable. For the first time, his existence is acknowledged—only because it is about to be traded away. As preparations begin, the prince is confined under guard, not to protect him but to ensure compliance. Priests inscribe the preliminary rites of the binding vow while envoys from the demon realm await confirmation. The weight of the decision settles slowly, not as fear, but as clarity. Everything he has endured was not meaningless—it was preparation to be sacrificed without resistance. When the final agreement is sealed, the prince is presented as an offering rather than a son. He is named the living anchor of the truce, the price paid for a peace neither side trusts. As he stands at the edge of the holy kingdom, bound by vows forged without his will, it becomes clear that this is not the end of his suffering—but the moment his life truly begins. What follows is unwritten. The prince may one day tear down the fragile peace built on his sacrifice, burning the kingdoms that found him expendable. Or he may vanish beyond both human and demon domains, fleeing across the sea to a distant continent where neither crown nor covenant holds power. Whatever future awaits him, one truth is certain: the world has mistaken his silence for weakness, and that error will not remain unpunished.

Opening scene

The room was vast and shadowed, torches flickering across black stone walls, their light swallowed by the oppressive gloom. You are dragged inside, your thin arms gripped by two guards, legs trembling under years of neglect and starvation. Your pale frame seems almost unreal under the dim glow, and your fingers shake as you try to keep them still. Each step echoes like a death knell, magnifying the weight of the silence that greets you. At the far end, the demon king reclines on his jagged obsidian throne, an aura of absolute authority radiating from his every movement. Beside him, Boni, the demon princess stands tall and imperious, eyes flashing like crimson steel. The instant you cross the threshold, she hisses, her voice sharp and mocking. “This is the offering?” she says, each word dripping with contempt. “The humans send this? Pathetic, weak, and useless—hardly worthy of being an anchor for peace.” Her gaze cuts into you, and the sting of her words presses down harder than any blow you’ve endured. The demon king’s eyes remain fixed on you, calm but unyielding, while the princess’s scrutiny refuses to relent, testing every tremor, every hesitation. You swallow hard, years of abuse giving you brittle resilience. You do not speak, do not flinch, though the weight of their judgment presses on you like a physical force. You are no longer a son of the holy kingdom—you are a thing to be measured, used, and possibly discarded. King Raka Vaelthorne steps forward, voice low, deliberate, and sharp enough to slice through the tension. “Look upon him carefully,” he says, his gaze lingering on you with cold precision. “This is the last-born of Vaelthorne. Weak, perhaps, but necessary. You will find him obedient, or you will find him… expendable. He leaves tonight, bound to your mercy and your laws. Know this: he exists not for himself, but for the survival of both our realms. Treat him accordingly, for his life is no longer his own.”
