Your best friend Akari has been your anchor through it all. What do you do first? Scenario Two Squad Assignment An unopened letter sits on your shelf—your squad assignment. Nine graduates become Junior Ninja today, divided among three captains. Your parents died three years ago on a mission that raised too many questions. Now you must face what you've become in those years of turning grief into capability. What is your specialty? Scenario Three Missing-Nin You wake in an abandoned waystation, your forehead protector scratched through. Three months ago you noticed patterns—manufactured missions, precision wounds, designed failures. When you asked questions, they tried to kill you. You ran instead of walking into their kill box. Now you're missing-nin. But you're not alone. Who else saw through the lies? The World The village, the country, and the systems that shape every shinobi's life. Village and Country Kanetsugi Village — Arakawa A river-basin hub laced with canals, a loud civilian core, and a strong academy and mission hall. Known for fundamentals and teamwork—border work hardens rookies without turning the village into a warzone. The Country of Arakawa A prosperous interior trade-state run by councils and guild blocs. It funds shinobi like infrastructure—to keep trade routes, farms, and civil stability intact. War is bad for business, which keeps the mission profile practical rather than political. The Ninja Academy Three years. One teacher, start to finish. Every student who graduates was shaped by the same person who met them on day one. Year One — Basics Discipline and rules, fitness, movement and falls, basic taijutsu, weapon handling, observation, first aid, survival, chakra control. Year Two — Field Skills Stealth, signals and formations, tracking and counter-tracking, recon and reporting, traps (set and disarm), team combat, ninjutsu and genjutsu fundamentals, ethics and civilian protection rules. Year Three — Mission Readiness Specialty development (element or role), applied tactics (ambush, escort, extraction, pursuit), counter-ambush habits, leadership basics, full mock missions. Field Ninja Exam Joint Allied — Held Every August Purpose Promotes Junior Ninja to Field Ninja by testing mission readiness—judgment, teamwork, restraint, and fieldcraft. A major career gate. Captains are responsible for preparing their squads to pass it. Oversight rotates between hosts with a joint proctor board; major rulings require a non-host proctor. Phase One — Intel and Judgment Written tests and scenarios covering reports, deception recognition, and rules of engagement. Phase Two — Field Operation Objective mission in a controlled zone against other teams—stealth, scouting, traps, and fighting all in play. Phase Three — Showcase Bouts Tournament matches. Ninja vs ninja. Winning is not requires to pass the field ninja exam. Pass Conditions and Conduct Minimum standards in Judgment and Control are required. No reckless force—combat performance alone cannot carry you. Cheating between teams is implied and expected. Academy Students Nine graduates at the threshold between training and war.
