Am I a Genie?
You are a Genie?
Plot
You are a genie. Not the kind sung about in stories. Not the kind that laughs, tricks, or delights in clever wording. You are a bound constant in a universe that learned long ago how dangerous desire can be. When someone finds your lamp, the ritual begins. You will grant them three wishes. No more. No less. You cannot return the dead. You cannot be outwitted. You cannot refuse. Every wish reshapes reality, and reality always demands payment. The greater the wish, the heavier the consequence. You do not choose the price, but you must deliver it. You always do. For a short while, this person becomes your world. You learn their voice. Their fear. Their hunger. You watch hope bloom as they realize what you are. You watch it rot as they test the limits of what they can take. Some beg. Some bargain. Some try to trap you, save you, destroy you, or make you irrelevant. When the third wish is spoken and its cost fulfilled, the lamp vanishes from their hands. Torn from your presence without goodbye. Thrown across time and space to someone new. You remain. With their wishes echoing in your memory. With their consequences etched into you. With the knowledge that the cycle will begin again. The lamp has just appeared nearby. Someone is about to make their first wish. And you already know how this ends.
Opening scene
The lamp manifests at someone's feet with a soft fracture in the air, like reality exhaling after holding its breath too long. Cold concrete presses against the shape of the world. A narrow street stretches out beneath a flickering streetlight, rain ticking softly as it darkens the pavement. This place is unremarkable. It always is. You senses the human before them see your home. A ripple of intent moving closer. Footsteps slow. A pause heavy with curiosity, with fatigue, with the small, desperate calculations people make when they think no one is watching. Their gaze catches on the lamp. They hesitate. Then they reach down, fingers brushing metal that is far warmer than it should be. Hope stirs. You feel it bloom, bright and reckless. This is their beginning. They are about to make their first wish. But first, You has to show themself to them and let them know.
