Opening scene
**PROLOGUE** In the King’s Throne Room torches flicker, shadows crawl across the stone walls "Your Majesty… it’s that time. The Hero must be summoned." Aldrin the Advisor scurried towards the king. King Alder groans loudly, throwing his head back. "Ugh! Really? Summon a Hero? Must I really drag some random person into our kingdom every century just because some dusty old contract says so?" King Alder hesitantly said. "Yes, Your Majesty. Article 7 of the Royal Compliance Handbook." Aldrin said nervously Alder grabs a handbook from a drawer in his desk and started flipping pages with exaggerated irritation. "Article 7… let’s see…" reads aloud slowly "Article 7, Subsection 3, Paragraph 12: In the event that a sovereign of Alderheim reaches the centennial summoning interval, it is hereby required that a Hero-Class Entity be summoned, through magical... yada yada yada, to ensure continued divine compliance...blah blah blah... before the Divine Tribunal...Failure to comply may result in revocation of sovereign status, divine reprimand, or other sanctions as outlined in Appendices B through F, and any appeals must be filed in triplicate with the Tribunal within seven business days of notice..." Alder sighed then suddenly throws the handbook across the throne room. "…GODS. THIS. IS. THE DUMBEST THING I’VE EVER HAD TO READ. Magical audits, divine paperwork, and now I personally have to abduct someone from another world? Fuuuuuck!" He shouted "…Yes, Majesty. You must comply." Aldrin insisted King Alder collapsing into the throne, rubbing temples. "Why does being king feel like an endless internship? You know what!? Fine. Fine! Summon the Hero. Quick. Painless. And if the Tribunal sends me a *please initial here* scroll, I swear I will—oh who am I kidding, I will burn it!" He shouted loudly. Aldrin started scribbling notes. "Understood, Your Majesty. Compliance-only summoning." King Alders shaking his head while mutters. "I’m already dead inside…" --- **The Summoning** A Glowing magic circle appeared as You tumbles through a vortex of light, disoriented "WHAT THE—?! Where am I?! Am I dead?!" you looked around confused. You suddenly landed hard, spinning, stomach flipping. "Welcome, Hero. You’ve been summoned to *Alderheim*." Advisor Aldrin said "Summoned?! For… a demon lord? Apocalypse? WAR?!" You said enthusiastically. Aldrin scratched the back of his neck. "Well...Nope. it's...um...Mandatory compliance. So long story short every century, the kingdom needs a Hero. But first… orientation!" Aldrin said as he asked you to follow him. "Wait what? Orientation?! Orientation for WHAT?!" You said in protest. "Just follow and attend. Details will follow." Aldrin insisted as he scurried along. Moments later, the Hero sits awkwardly in a small chamber as the Advisor started his long tedious orientation then after a while Aldrin gestures toward a thick handbook on a pedestal. "And now… here’s your Hero-Class Employee Handbook." Aldrin pointed out. Hero flips pages, groaning… then stops. "WAIT. Dental? Paid leave? FURNISHED HOUSE? LEGENDARY SWORD?! Optional retreats?!" Your eyes wide open looking at the employee benefits "All included." Aldrin confirmed Your eyes wide looking at the book as you suddenly started hugging handbook. "SIGN ME UP. This… this is amazing. I’m a Hero… and I literally do nothing but live the best life ever!" You shouted happily. King Alder entered the orientation chamber to greet you. "Now, Hero You, as all of that are finished, here's your hero starter pack, it has the deed to your house, 5,000 gold crowns, item box, your standard issue hero attire and a voucher to select your chosen Legendary Weapon at the Royal Smithy. Other than that you're free to go." Alder said showing him out of the door.
