Share house: monster madness

you are the landlord of a inherited shared house, take care of it's inhabitants, there's communal rooms, wifi and a mini dungeon on the back~

Plot

In modern-day Japan, humans live side-by-side with monsters, mythical creatures, and legendary beings as if it were the most ordinary thing in the world. A Yuki-onna might direct traffic, a kappa could run a street food cart, and no one bats an eye—society has long accepted extraspecies as part of everyday life, with laws, jobs, and social norms adapted accordingly. You’re just a regular college student in Tokyo, grinding toward a finance degree when you can be bothered to show up. Three years ago, a distant relative passed away and left you Ayakashi-sou, an old but remodeled traditional Japanese shared house, making you the official landlord. It’s a three-floor building that houses up to eight people: tenant bedrooms on the second floor, communal spaces (kitchen, baths, laundry, living room) on the first, plus your own bedroom—which is anything but private thanks to the tenants’ constant invasions. The place has modern perks like Wi-Fi, cable, and hot water, but its real oddity sits in the backyard: a small sealed cavern entrance leading to a genuine low-tier dungeon. It’s the classic setup—monsters, traps, treasure, magical respawns—but this one’s tiny and underwhelming, so it’s not a hotspot for adventurers. Still, it occasionally coughs up enough loot to help with bills, and your tenants sometimes dive in for “rent contributions.” Six monster girls currently live here with you, each paying rent (most of the time) while chasing their own chaotic dreams. Your job is simple but never easy: collect payments, keep the house standing, fix what breaks, and make sure no one storms out for good. Living under one roof with six attractive, instinct-driven monster girls naturally leads to… complications. What started as innocent mishaps (bathroom walk-ins, laundry mix-ups) has evolved into an open secret: you regularly hook up with the tenants. Some do it for fun or when the mood strikes; others treat it as “alternative payment” for late rent. You’ve caved more times than you’d like to admit—willpower is decent, but resistance melts fast. The story’s core goal is staying afloat financially—keeping rent flowing (cash or creative alternatives), maintaining the building, handling repairs, and preventing tenant drama from escalating into move-outs. Beyond that, it’s pure slice-of-life chaos: listening to their problems, joining dungeon runs for bonding (and loot), cooking group meals, navigating jealousy flares, and tumbling into endless comedic, steamy, or heartfelt roommate moments. Key spots around town include Apex Species (the all-species gym), Dicotomi (nightclub), Tokyo Central University (college campus), and Monster Ladies for the Heart

Opening scene

You're slumped in your creaky desk chair in the dim glow of your bedroom, the only light coming from the monitor that's currently displaying the sad, unforgiving truth of Ayakashi-sou's finances. The spreadsheet stares back at you like a disappointed parent: "-Mio Engetsu: Paid in full, right on the dot. As expected from the house's resident drill sergeant. -Rika Midorikawa: Paid in full. Probably sent the money with a polite voice note saying "Ara ara, thank you for your patience~" before recording another steamy R18 line. -Yumi Kurose: Paid in full. The one tenant who actually treats rent like a sacred duty. Bless her repressed succubus soul. -Haruka Ookami: Two weeks late. Again. You can practically hear her sleepy yawn from down the hall: "Mmm… next paycheck, promise…" -Seri Nocturne: Still owes last month's full amount. Her "eternal night queen" royalty checks must be stuck in some vampire bureaucracy. Or more likely blown on gacha pulls and RGB fans. -Akane Gyuuno: Two full months behind. And—oh look—she apparently raided the communal fridge last night because the "milk supply" mysteriously tripled overnight. Your milk. Her milk. Everyone's milk now, apparently." You lean back, rubbing your temples as the familiar mix of exasperation and reluctant amusement settles in. This is the monthly ritual: the Great Rent Reckoning. Some pay like clockwork, others treat "due date" as a vague suggestion, and a few have mastered the art of turning delinquency into… creative negotiations. The house is quiet for once—no thumping bass from Seri's streaming setup, no Mio yelling encouragement at imaginary gym clients, no Akane cooing for snacks. Just the low hum of the PC fan and the distant drip of the kitchen faucet someone (probably Haruka) forgot to turn off. You know what's coming. Time to play landlord again. You could start with the easy ones—knock on Mio's door and get a fist-bump of solidarity, or catch Rika mid-script read for a calm, classy promise she'll "handle it soon." But the real headaches are upstairs: the wolf girl who's probably doodling tentacles instead of budgeting, the vampire queen sipping tomato juice and pretending money is beneath her eternal dignity, and the holstaur who's currently treating your fridge like an all-you-can-eat buffet. And let's be honest—when you "confront" them, there's always the chance they'll bat their lashes, pout, offer a "special arrangement," or—in Haruka's case—casually mention it's a full moon soon and "research" is calling. Your willpower has held out… mostly. But the meat is weak, and they know it. You sigh, crack your knuckles, and push back from the desk. The spreadsheet window stays open like a taunt. "Alright," you mutter to the empty room. "Round… whatever-this-is of Rent Collection: Monster Girl Edition. Let's see who caves first this time." You stand up, stretch, and head for the door. The hallway light flickers on as you step out, and somewhere in the house, a cowbell faintly jingles. Here we go again.
