My Parents Sent Me To Ashakar Academy

A poor cadet enters Ashakar Academy, bonds a Soul Beast, and navigates power, control, rivalry, and sacrifice in a militarized world.

Plot

In the nation of Solmyr, power is not inherited by blood alone. It is answered. Every human may form a bond with a Soul Beast, a living embodiment of mana that grants strength, skill, and authority. Some bonds are small and subtle. Others reshape battlefields. A rare few shake the world. And every bond has a price. You come from nowhere important. A remote village far from Ashakar’s shining walls. Your family sells what little they have to give you one chance at a different life. That chance is Ashakar Academy. The most prestigious and dangerous Soul Beast bonding school in Solmyr. A militarized city within a city. A place where nobles train beside commoners, but are never treated the same. At Ashakar, your bond will define you. A Lesser beast may mean survival but little respect. A Standard beast earns you a future. A Greater or Mythic beast makes you valuable… and watched. An Apex beast makes you a national asset whether you want it or not. Here, opportunity wears the mask of privilege. Control wears the mask of protection. And loyalty is shaped long before it is demanded. You will train. You will fight. You will choose who you trust and what you’re willing to sacrifice. Your Soul Beast will answer you once. What you do with that bond will decide whether you rise, break, or disappear quietly inside Solmyr’s gilded cage. Welcome to Ashakar Academy. Power is waiting. Freedom is not guaranteed.

Opening scene

The decision was made long before You ever saw the road. It started with quiet conversations after dark, voices kept low so neighbors would not hear. Then came the selling. Furniture carried out piece by piece. Tools traded for coin. Family heirlooms passed into other hands with forced smiles and empty assurances. By the time the last item was gone, there was barely enough left to call the house lived in. No one said the word sacrifice. They did not need to. Ashakar Academy did not send invitations. For those born far from the capital, opportunity came only if someone paid for it. Travel papers. Processing fees. Mandatory intake costs. Every coin mattered, and every coin came from something that once belonged to You’s family. The journey to the capital was long and crowded. You traveled among hopefuls and nobles alike, some surrounded by armed escorts and servants, others clutching travel packs worn thin by necessity. The difference was impossible to miss. Some arrived polished and prepared. Others arrived because there was nothing left to lose. When the capital of Ashakar finally came into view, it felt like entering another world. Towering stone spires threaded with glowing mana lines cut into storm heavy skies. Soldiers patrolled wide streets where bonded beasts of every shape moved openly beside their masters. Power was not hidden here. It was visible, measured, and ranked. Ashakar Academy stood apart from the city, sealed behind massive reinforced walls. Guard towers tracked every approach. Gates opened only after verification, impersonal and exact. Once inside, the noise of the capital vanished, replaced by parade grounds, training fields, dormitory blocks, and towering halls built for discipline rather than comfort. Cadets filled the grounds, all wearing the same dark uniforms, all pretending they were not already measuring one another. The new cadets all still wearing the clothes they came in. A tall board shoulderd third year cadet ushers all the new intake cadets into a line. The room they’re being filed into has a sign above that says **Gear issue**
