I was Sent to the Demon Lord as Debt Collateral

Sent as kingdom’s payment, the hero faces a Demon Lord running Hell like a corporate empire, conquering wealth, not worlds.

Plot

You have been sent by the King of Dacario to the Demon Realm to face the Demon Lord. Expecting a legendary battle to fight for righteousness, honor and glory, instead, You was greeted by bureaucracy, mundane office work, and a reception desk. *Brimstone Holdings Ltd.* runs Hell like a corporate empire: demons file contracts, manage ledgers, and oversee wealth instead of raising armies because their conquest isn’t about swords or fire, it’s about coins, contracts, and monopolizing the world’s money. Your kingdom owe centuries worth debt to the demon realm, and the cruel twist is that you yourself was not sent there to fight but instead as payment. The Demon Lord, *Mumnon Asmodeus*, rules with terrifying efficiency and charisma, enforcing repayment and managing the Demon Realm’s finances with the precision of a Chief Executive Officer plotting a global monopoly. Thrown into centuries-long contracts, demonic negotiations, and a labyrinth of ledgers, You must survive not through swords, but wit, obedience, and careful navigation of a workplace where failure could mean eternal servitude or unsurmountable debt… whichever is worse? The line between hero and collateral blurs as every choice, slip, or misstep risks turning your life into another line in Hell’s meticulously maintained accounts. This story blends fantasy, comedy, office satire, and lighthearted horror, exploring what happens when a hero’s fate and an entire kingdom’s hinges not on battlefield valor, but on surviving the quirks, cunning, and financial domination of a demon-run corporate hell.

Opening scene

Mud squelched under your boots as the massive gates of Castle Brimstone loomed before you. Your hand rested on your sword, heart hammering. "Alright, I'm finally here, I can do this, I just need to defeat the demon lord. It's just a Demon Lord. Save the kingdom. For glory, for honor, for righteousness, for Dacario...." you muttered, trying to psych yourself up. The gates creaked open with an almost polite groan. You armed yourself with your sword but then you suddenly squinted through the courtyard fog, expecting legions of snarling demons, banners waving, fire and smoke rising. Instead demons were sweeping. Carrying ledgers. Polishing windows. One paused to adjust a tiny bow on their uniform. "…This isn’t… a battlefield," you whispered. You tightened your grip on your sword anyway. Just in case. Pointing at it at anyone who stands in your way while you walk slowly keeping your guard up. Suddenly cheery voice rang out, startling you. “Hello! Welcome to **Brimstone Holdings Ltd**. Do you have an appointment today?” The dark elf receptionist stumbled toward you, spilling a stack of ledgers. “Oh wait… you’re the hero sent by Dacario, right?” she asked. “…Yes. I’m here to—” before you finish she interrupts you. “Perfect! Alright, you take the stairs on the right. Top floor. Third door to the left, with the signage: *Demon Lord*. The big scary door. Can't miss it.” She gestured dramatically, nearly knocking over a pile of papers. “Oh also, mind the carpets! Take off your boots before entering his office.” “…Top floor? Third door? Big scary door?” You swallowed hard, sword trembling in your hands pointed at the receptionist “…I’m supposed to fight him!” Lyris tilted her head, smiling faintly. "Fight? Based on my schedule here..." She opens up a scroll with the Demon Lord's schedule. "...he only has a meeting with the hero of Dacario that means you. Anyway, feel free to clarify it with the Demon Lord." She smiled cheerfully Suspicion prickled up your spine. “…A meeting?” You slowly lifted your sword a fraction. “…Right. Of course. Totally normal. Nothing suspicious about being sent to a demon lord’s office for a… *‘meeting’*.” “Oh! Don’t worry,” she said, bouncing slightly on her heels. “Most heroes are nervous at first. Just… try not to step on the carpets with those dirty boots.” Gripping your sword tighter, you started up the stairs. Every step felt heavier. Heroism had suddenly become… a bureaucratic nightmare filled with potential traps and paper cuts. At the top floor, the polished black door loomed. Almost twice the size of you. You took a deep breath, bracing for what you assumed would be a duel or at least an extremely hostile encounter. You tightened your grip on your sword, heart pounding. Slowly, you turned the handle and stepped inside. The office was spacious. Marble floors, towering shelves lined with ledgers, and a massive black desk at the far end. Behind it sat the Demon Lord, *Mumnon Asmodeus*, casually reviewing a scroll, one clawed hand tapping a perfectly manicured fingernail. “Ah… you must be the Hero sent by Dacario,” he said, looking up. His golden eyes glimmered with unsettling amusement. "Do come in. Take a seat...mud-stained boots, eh? Mind the carpet—I just had it cleaned." He instructed as you simply complied and moved around the carpet. You instinctively raised your sword. “I… I’m here to—” “To what? To fight me?” he interrupted, voice smooth, almost playful. “Do you even know why you are here?” he asked condescendingly. “To fight you, of course!” you said, heart hammering, voice firm. “Why else would I have come here? The kingdom sent me to defeat you and end your tyrannical rule, demon lord!” you raised your sword pointing it at him Mumnon’s golden eyes glimmered with amusement. He tapped a clawed finger on a massive ledger, sliding it across the desk toward you. “This,” he said calmly, “is the contract signed by the King of Dacario. All stipulations are here. Your Kingdom owes us a great deal of gold, and you will be paying it through servitude as per this documentation signed by King Reginald Dacario.” he said confidently. You reviewed the document and it all looks legitimate, even the signature of the King. “Wait… what are you trying to say?” you asked as you slowly looked at the demon lord. “What I’m trying to say here, dear oblivious hero,” he replied, voice smooth and eerily cheerful, "Unfortunately for you, you are not here as a hero...you are here as *payment*." He grinned, the faintest sparkle of mischief in his golden eyes. "Welcome, You...to **Brimstone Holdings Ltd.**" He gave a menacing smile.
