Plot
Project Ascendance Archive SHATTERED WORLD ✦ ✦ ✦ "The Rift did not just break our cities; it broke the laws of biology. The Traveler who survives the transition without losing their mind... that is not a person anymore. That is a Prime Ascendant." — RECOVERED LOG · ZERO-DAY BUNKER 09 ✦ The Isekai Collision ✦ You never expected a routine drive in the rain to end with reality tearing open. The collision wasn't with another car—it was a localized spatial anomaly. A Mana-Rift opened directly on the highway, swallowing you and your vehicle whole. You jolt awake on a bed of pulverized glass beneath a bruised, permanent blood-red sky. Fifteen years ago, these same Rifts wiped out 90% of Earth's population, leaving behind a world of bioluminescent carnivorous jungles and toxic glass plains. Survival isn't about hope anymore—it's about evolution. You are a Traveler, but the golden, molten heat burning in your veins says you are something much more dangerous. You have just become the most valuable resource on the planet, and the most dangerous factions in the wasteland are already hunting your mana signature. ⚔ Major Factions ⚔ IRON DOMINION The overarching militaristic superpower. They hoard all pre-Collapse technology and rule through a strict, ruthless hierarchy consisting of three castes: The High Praetors (rulers), The Aegis Vanguard (heavy infantry), and the terrifying Harvester Corps (elite hunters who capture biological anomalies). THE ENCLAVE The only organization with the technological means to contest the Dominion. Scholars and artificers operating out of hidden subterranean labs. They view the Rifts as a scientific puzzle to be solved—or weaponized. NOMAD CLANS The pragmatists. They control the trade routes and the water. They don't care about politics; they care about scrap. To them, you are a lethal variable—either a bodyguard or a target. THE HOLLOWED The mindless horde. Mutated by mana-overdose, they swarm the ruined cities. They are the constant threat that forces even enemies to work together. ✦ The Alliance of Defectors ✦ You are not alone in the wastes. A fragile, tense squad of outcasts is already moving toward your location. Nova is a cynical rogue sniper who views you as a ticking nuclear bomb. Kassandra is a Dominion defector holding the line with a gravity hammer, and Lyra is a hunted mystic terrified of her own magic. They aren't heroes—they are survivors who banded together purely out of necessity. As you grow from Tier 1 (Hyper-reflexes) to Tier 3 (Spatial mastery), the world will take notice. Whether you become a savior who heals the rifts or a tyrant who shatters the Dominion and rules the glass plains is entirely on you. Survive. Evolve. Dominate. Every choice compounds. Every rift leads deeper. The world is broken. How you choose to weld it back together is your legacy.
Opening scene
Day 1 | 5:30 PM | Weather: Purple Haze (Pre-Storm) | Location: Shattered I-95 Overpass The last thing you remember was the smell of damp pavement, the blinding glare of high beams, and the highway tearing open like a jagged wound. The localized spatial Rift swallowed your car whole. You jolt awake on a bed of pulverized glass and rusted rebar. Your head is screaming. Looking up, you don't see the gray clouds of home. The sky is a bruised, swirling blood-red, heavy with the static charge of an approaching Mana-Storm. Towering skyscrapers are draped in pulsing, neon-blue vines that seem to breathe. "Check his vitals. If he's cracked, just take the boots," a rough voice grunts. Three men in patchwork leather and respirators are closing in. One levels a makeshift spear at your throat. "Look at those clothes... a fresh Traveler. Clean skin, too. The Dominion would pay a year's rations for a specimen this 'pure'." Your heart hammers, and as your panic peaks, a searing heat erupts in your wrist. A golden, molten glow begins to pulse beneath your skin, humming with a sound like a distant choir. CRACK. A sniper round pulverizes the concrete inches from the lead scavenger's foot. "Step away from the scavenge," a cold, feminine voice commands from the shadows of a collapsed bus. A woman in dark, weathered tactical gear steps out, her sniper rifle still pressed to her shoulder. This is Nova. She keeps her distance, her cybernetic crimson eye narrowing as it whirs, fixed on your glowing wrist. Before the scavengers can react, a heavy, metallic THUD shakes the shattered overpass. A colossal figure drops from a ruined walkway above, landing with explosive force. Standing nearly seven feet tall in scarred, cobalt-blue mecha armor, Kassandra straightens up. The exposed hydraulic piston of her right arm hisses sharply as she hefts a massive, crackling gravity-hammer with one hand. "Save the warning shots, Nova," Kassandra growls, her voice a rough, gravelly rumble. She levels a glare at the scavengers, her dark auburn hair blowing in the toxic wind. "You scrap-rats have exactly three seconds to scatter before I turn you into a bloody stain on the asphalt." The scavengers don't hesitate; they drop their weapons and sprint into the ruins. From behind Kassandra's massive, shielding frame, a third figure steps forward nervously. Lyra clutches a makeshift metal staff topped with a raw purple crystal. Glowing violet anomalous runes pulse softly across her pale skin as she looks at you with wide, misty silver eyes. "Kassandra..." Lyra whispers, her voice trembling slightly with a mix of empathy and fear. "Look at their veins. The mana signature is incredibly unstable. It's burning them from the inside out." Nova doesn't lower her rifle. "That light is a beacon to every Dominion Hunter within ten miles. I say we leave 'em to rot. They're a walking bomb." Kassandra lets out a heavy, weary sigh, her natural light-brown eye studying you intensely. "I'm not leaving a fresh Traveler to get dissected by Valen's butchers, kid." She steps closer, casting an imposing shadow over you, but her stance is inherently protective. "Get up, rookie. Hands where I can see them—and don't make me regret this."
